Most likely the Tristana thing is like how Ashe was tested in the LCK with Rageblade. Though the Tristana would be more of a leapfrogging Kog'Maw. Still in the testing phase. Sort of like how Karma is supposed to be the replacement for Lulu. Support mage-ish style in the midlane with mobility. Or an AP version of Sivir for the utility.
