In regards to LCS why isn't Nautilus picked more often? Why isn't Vayne ever picked? Why is Yorick disabled for worlds?
He's quite definitely the most interesting rework to date by Riot and I was looking forward to Worlds massively because I was a 100% sure someone would play him. And finally it would be something other than Ekko, Gnar or Shen being played in the top lane.
Vayne might be picked who knows she was picked last year at Worlds but she isn't a very good champion early if you get behind on her. Yeah late game she is a monster but games these days are just over the 30 min mark so on average 28-29 min games where she isn't the strongest of the ADC group.
IDK why Yorick is disabled maybe cause it's so close to Worlds but didn't stop Riot with the Skaner and Darius picks and reworks so idk.
yeah the same picks in each game are annoying as a fan but that is what makes Pros pros from youtubers. If you want different champions played watch youtube. The LCS is where players want to win.
I'll preface this by saying I'm not on Riot's esports team, nor do I work for an esports org. I'm just a fan who notices some things.
Nautilus probably isn't picked more often for a few reasons. For one, he gets bullied pretty hard by the current power picks. When so many current top laners bring both teamfighting and lane pressure (Shen, Gnar, Ekko), he's not really gonna do much. The fact that tank items are really wonky for him right now doesn't help either. I guess he could also be played support, but basically every other melee support brings something so much better than Nautilus, especially Braum.
Vayne isn't picked for two reasons. First, if you want early game, she's completely worthless and you should never pick her. If you're looking for late game, then why not just pick Sivir? She does basically the same damage late game, and isn't shackled by her requirement to be a dueling ADC, which is basically a contradiction in pro play. BoRK nerfs from a while back didn't help either.
Yorick is disabled for Worlds because they disable new champs and reworks right after their release, in case they're broken beyond belief. Since Worlds is a weird case and they want to keep things even throughout the tournament, they're just gonna leave Yorick disabled, since nobody was gonna use old Yorick and it's safer and easier just to keep new Yorick away.
Vayne is a tank-killing ADC. She was picked in the tank meta, but she's useless in a snowball meta. Similarly, Nautilus was okay in the tank meta and was used a lot, but a utility tank like Braum and Tahm are more helpful in a snowball meta.
