This Week in League (LCS) Week 3
Another week, another set of games and years off our lives. Here we will recap each week, laugh at lolcows and teams that choke. Week 3 is usually an important juncture as it weeds out the week from the strong as tough or easy stretches tend to end. Teams like Optic will have to face tougher or real teams while Flyquest will transition into an easy schedule after they face Liquid
BTW I just randomly decided to do this don't know how it will turn out. The goal of this series is to briefly recap each game while providing humor along the way.
TL vs FLY This game started with promise. FLY had a gameplan to shut down Jensen and Impact and even tried to make big plays bot. However, Xmithie and Doublelift shut down that plan real quick. They then suffocated FLY despite their best efforts and choked them out with methodical macro. FLY then secured Baron, the consequences were catastrophic as they gave up several kills. TL then swiftly executed FLY with a clean teamfight and Baron secure.
C9 vs OPT Optic trying to prove that the streak of wins at the start of the split was not a fluke due to an easy schedule. Unfortunately, they then had to play a real team in C9. It was clear domination by C9 from start to finish with the game becoming an absolute blowout after 20 minutes. Nisqy and Licorice were running in circles throughout the game. At that point . I foresee a brutal fall from the top for Optic.
CLG vs FOX It was mostly quiet until 6 minutes when CLG pulled the trigger midlane. Scuffles and Scrimmages in top and bot were fought throughout the midgame. However, nobody died and it got redundant real fast. A teamfight in mid happened, nobody died. Well that's what happens when a Talm Kench is in the game. After Fenix solo killed Ruin the game got bloody and all of that tension that was built up in the midgame finally exploded into brutal teamfights. Echo Fox had CLG on the ropes. Heck, even Apollo was spellslinging with Ez like it was 2018. They even secured Baron, sure it came at a price but you should be able to close it out from here. To bad because CLG won a teamfight in mid at 33 min leading to a swing in momentum that FOX just couldn't hope to contain.
TSM vs CG TSM is trying to climb back to the top of the standings after letting TL and FLY absolutely manhandle them. They have to beat CG to do so who always seem to be TSM's kryptonite. It was scrapheap in the bot lane as blows were traded back and forth in the early and midgame. TSM then caught steam and suffocated CG and snuffed out any hope they may have had. Bjergsen even flashed the new and improved TF and was able to apply invaluable map pressure. After a botched backdoor it seemed like there was a chance for a comeback but then the rest of TSM charged in and brute forced the nexus
100T vs GGS Golden Guardians are looking for some momentum after their upset of C9 and 100T are still looking to win their first game. It was a clownfiesta botlane for most of the early game as kills were traded throughout. Despite teasings for action top, more fights were made at bot. The game slowed down after 15 minutes with GGS securing towers and dragons until they secured Baron and took over from there. After a couple of messy teamfights, the Golden Warri err Guardians were finally able to secure the win.
OPT vs TL The Green Wall was looking to prove that yesterday's loss was a fluke and that they could hang with the elite. Initially, I thought Team Liquid was going run away with the lead after a few successful early ganks. But then, Optic woke up and won a string of teamfights to take the lead. Crown was on an absolute tear with Azir. He was making the rift his conquering grounds. They then forced a Baron with Xmithie in range. I'm warning you, don't take a 50/50 with Xmithie in range. "Red Team has stolen the Baron". What did I tell you, now TL have the tools to regain control. Then Crown got cocky and decided to 1v2 the carries. He then got shut down and that was the final nail in the coffin for Optic. They got suffocated for the rest of the game and proved their doubters right.
FOX vs 100T What in the actual F was this game? It was an absolute clowfiesta from start to finish. 100T started off strong. Then Solo killed FakeGod. Teamfights were happening left and right and dives were being botched. While this game was not as bad as Renegades vs Dignitas, it's up there. Then Solo killed FakeGod...again. Then another teamfight happened and 100T actually won and got Baron. Oh my glorious god 100T might finally win another game. Bang looked near unstoppable and Fenix seemed invisible. After winning a teamfight at the inhib tower they went for the killing blow to end their winless streak. Conglaturation 100T you've won a game!! Open the water supply of mountain dew and celebrate throughout the deep.
TSM vs C9 Another clash between the biggest rivalry in NA. C9 vs TSM. I myself am a C9 fan. C9 looked to stay ahead of their rivals while TSM wanted to establish themselves as the alpha of the big 3. The importance of this game trancends positions in the standings. For these teams it's to determine who is the better rival. The comps looked to be scraping from start to finish and secure an early lead. C9 struck first getting a kill for Nisqy's Yasuo. The rest of the early game was fairly quiet with a few solo kills, ganks, and objectives being threatened. TSM then won a fight around Herald and got dibs on it. Things settled for a bit with objectives being traded. C9 then won a teamfight around Baron to gain some much-needed presence on the rift. It was a game of cat and mouse for Baron. Broken Blade then pulled the trigger and expertly disrupted C9 for Zven to get a quadra kill and swiftly end this battle. Truly, a devastating blow for the Boys in Blue.
FLY vs CG Flyquest has had a brutal schedule to start the split and is now looking for an easy target to pick on. Just make sure to keep your guard up as no victory is guaranteed. Just ask Team Liquid. After some technical difficulties, the match went underway. It started off with an exchange of cute moves macro wise with minimal bloodshed. After 9 minutes kills were traded across the map. Skirmishes went back and forth. There seemed to be no clear cut leader. It was teamfight after teamfight, albeit they were cleaner than the game between 100T and FOX. CG finally broke the stalemate taking down the Baron. Who would have thought Demonte would outperform Poebelter on his signature Ryze. Despite their lead Flyquest has Sivir so this might take a while. After they rushed their 2nd Baron Clutch Gaming made quick work of Flyquest. If I were a Flyquest fan, I would be in very worried right now as this was one of the weaker teams although not as trash as 100T.
GGS vs CLG To mid-tier rising teams that are trying to get a leg on one another in the playoff race. In this clash of creativity, it's Froggen's lane swapping glacial augment Irelia vs POE's victor. Even Deftly is joining in on the fun in going for a ballsy pick in Draven. Froggen seems to have a thing for cold things in league. Things didn't take too long for the action to get started as kills were focused in the top lane where Froggen and Ruin got caught out repeatedly. A teamfight win enabled the Guardians to claim Shelly which they didn't do much with. For the next 5 minutes, the Guardians ran over CLG. They then got a little too greedy around the tier 3 towers and enable CLG to rush Baron. POE is literally carrying the Earth and Heavens to keep CLG in this game. This game has become a late-game slugfest. CLG with all the momentum in the world obliterates the Guardians in a teamfight to decisively win a critical game.
With Week 3 in the books it leaves C9 TSM CLG GGS OPT and TL in a deadlock at 4-2, CG is in an akward spot at 3-3, with FLY FOX and 100T being at the bottom at 1-5. It would take a C9 for the last 3 teams I mentioned to make it into the playoffs.
