Benching players because they aren't taking things seriously enough and threatening their spot until the perform how you want is a form of bullying. People who claim that it is a great way to motivate would make horrible bosses. A leader isn't in charge because they know better, they are in charge to serve as best they can and keep the team/group together. Jack and Reapered have shown their true colors. It was either a marketing stunt,( which I don't believe it was honestly) or a personal matter where they obviously got into an argument with the 3 benched players. Jack claims he was not happy about the way they responded and honestly I was ecstatic. I'm not even a C9 fan myself, and it made me angry! (TL is my bae, btw) If Riot supports this move then they support bullying. That is what happened here. Its not acceptable and should be punished.

I don't know the full story, but they are supposed to be professionals right? That is what Pro stands for, their team is literally their job. It is completely acceptable for any athletic sports team to bench a player because they are not performing, so I don't see why a non-athletic sport would be any different.

There could be a personal matter and some actual issues between parts of the team that assisted, but benching someone because they do not perform or do not take their job seriously is not bullying in and of itself.

For more context on what happened and why:

This is the owner of c9 talking about why the changed happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsvunHO8Ac4&feature=youtu.be

This is the coach of c9 talking about why he recommended the change. https://www.invenglobal.com/lol/articles/5366/c9-reapered-gives-his-honest-reasoning-behind-the-roster-changes

tldr: Reapered believed that the way things were going with c9 that the team wouldn't make worlds this year and that radical changes were needed.

I really don't know what kind of life you're going to live if you honestly believe that being reprimanded at your job for a lack of effort is bullying. It seemed like a fairly straight forward decision. The c9a team were winning their scrims and the c9 main team were struggling. They tried to put the best performing players on their main roster. Smoothie is a bit unfortunate as he was benched to keep the bot lane synergy from their academy team and wasn't the motivation problems they were having with sneaky/jensen.
