With the announcement of the OPL, I have a question about the NA scene
I noticed that Oceania is going to have a professional league this year and I'm very happy for them. They'll have three different leagues.
-
OPL: Oceania Pro League. Best of the best.
-
OCS: Oceania Challenger Series. NACS equivalent.
-
OOL: Oceania Open League
The Open League is what I want to discuss. This is a really cool thing that they're doing. It allows players of all skill levels to put their team into the fray and compete in weekly tournaments. This would be a fantastic thing for the NA scene as well. I know we have plenty of websites that do tournaments for people, but few actually do 5v5 tournaments. Most are just "sign up and we'll throw you on a random team." Not to mention that there are so many websites out there that are notorious for not ever giving winners the prizes they earned. It would be fantastic if Riot supported a NAOL for players like me who have a 5s team that wants to be competitive, but we don't really have a place to play at.
So my question for someone in the know is: Is a North American Open League a possibility for Season 5?
