Does TSM need a roster change?

Year after year TSM seems to impress us all by choking so hard. As a TSM fan i am starting to expect the worst at worlds from now on because TSM seems to always disappoint us all.

What do you think the solution is? Do they need to improve their draft? Or do you think its time for a roster change? If a roster change, who should go? Most of us seem to think Sven is the problem. What are your thoughts?

Doublelift needs to go Sven needs to go

Sven hasn't been able to do well this split. He was able to get by because competition in NA was not high Doublelift is just not good anymore. In an ADC meta, he can't do anything.. it's a shame

I think the TSM's problem is that they are a good team for winning a spring split or summer split style but not the world's format. They focus on consistent play game to game, so they improve steadily and in the spring and summer split style they have ten weeks to sort out whatever unusual strategies their opponents come up with. They can play good best of fives and take playoff games.

But in the world's format, TSM just cannot adapt their play in a single week. They come out of NA feeling strong because they've learned to play a single style consistently over ten weeks. They might do well in week one, but then they just can't adapt to what world class teams are going to throw at them week two.

So TSM is always at or near the top in NA, but they can't make the transition needed to perform at worlds. It just isn't enough to be consistent game to game.

As far as changing the roster, I think the best thing TSM could do would be to have more active subs. TSM doesn't need an entirely new roster if the new roster is just going to get locked into consistent boring play over a ten week period anyways. If TSM used more active subs, then they could help cover their obvious weakness: predictable play. Also, it would probably help the TSM roster in general to play a more adaptive style game to game. TSM needs to learn to change it up.

You forgot the most important option

Needs a new name :)

Sven needs to go because his champion pool is a massive liability (in that if he isn't playing carries, he tends to be rather easy to play around), Hauntzer is realistically going to be replaced by either Ray or Impact depending on which one C9 chooses to keep, and I'm pretty sure DL is already half-way out the door with rallez bench-sitting for the past 6 months.

Svenskeren and Doublelift need to be replaced.

Replace Sven and it might be time for Doublelift to retire depending on who is out there that TSM might want to look to bring in. The other 3 seem fine as they are, just need to fix that drafting and their horrible early game.

Get rid of Parth and get a better coach.

If they are going to replace someone, who are they going to replace them with?

I mean do you drop the jungler for someone who's been bouncing around other teams? Do you bring in Pants are Dragon? What?

I'll start off by saying who definitively needs to stay:

  1. Bjergsen
  2. Hauntzer
  3. Biofrost

I think these three are the pillars of TSM atm and have carried team fights or at the very least are the most consistent. I believe they add the most value to the team. As for Doublelift, I don't think he's bad. Mechanically he's proven to do well, however, he's had some issues with being caught out. He's not an incredible ADC either. If Doublelift was 80% as good at his role as the above three are at theirs, I feel like it wouldn't matter who was TSM's jungler because every lane would smash.

Which leads to my next point which is, because Doublelift is not as good at his role as Bjergsen, Hauntzer, and Bio are at theirs... Svenskeren as TSM's starting jungler needs to go. Fast. Fans of Svenskeren will try to say that he's not as bad as he seemed at worlds. The problem is that a lot of the same issues that people brought up about his Worlds play, were also present in his games throughout both 2017 splits and beyond. Sven is just not up to par with other NA junglers that didn't even qualify for Worlds. In fact, Sven was not just statistically the worst one of the worst junglers at Worlds, he's one of the worst in NA. I'm not saying that to trash the guy, because I think he's cool and obviously has built up some sort of chemistry with his team... It's sad to say it but if TSM wants to do better, they've got to cut him out...

and they need IWDominate... (lul).

no but they really do need to find another jungler. As for Parth, I don't know a ton about how he contributes to the team's success or failures.

It doesn't matter if you completely change the roster again. The problem isn't the players: its Reggie and his organization.

Papapwnage11/3/2017, 9:27:11 PM1 votes

Svenskeren has under-performed ever since he was added to the roster of TSM. The only jungle he looked good on was old Reksai and Lee Sin. He fails to adapt to new jungle metas as well as provide smart map movements/setups for his team. I would get rid of him and also Hauntzer. Hauntzer is an EXCELLENT player, but continually gets baited into bad situations and inting because he is so confident/cocky. Unless he can be tempered to always playing smart and not assuming he can outplay every situations he needs to go as well.

Svenskeren feeds and DL just does a bunch of stupid stuff get rid of them both

Croanin10/14/2017, 7:02:47 PM1 votes

Issue I've always had with TSM is that they're most gifted player/players are their shot callers. I mean AD and Mid are mechanically demanding, you normally don't want them calling shots, just worry about play making. They had Yellowstar for a bit, but it caused a mess.

RudDy10/16/2017, 5:51:11 PM1 votes

They need to keep doublelift and sven needs to go. They just need to change the shotcallers and maybe the coach cause his strat sucked at worlds

MysterQ10/14/2017, 9:13:07 PM1 votes

Destroy the whole team, name and all. Those NA titles are pointless and tainted. Let the real players go to a real team.

I'd like to see some better innovation from them. They seem to think copying Korea is the way to go every year. Stop boot-camping in Korea. They do it every year and it has yet to produce any kind of result. I've yet to see TSM actually pull out a surprise pick or even try to break the meta. They just keep picking the same crap every. single. time. It's sad.
