Hey guys!

I’m Riot Novalas & I’m a QA Analyst on Riot’s Playtest Team, a group of high elo players who work on Core Gameplay playing new and in dev content before they’re released. It’s our job to test the changes that our designers come up with to ensure that we’re introducing positive changes to League in terms of both balance and fun.

Rather than a Patch Chat, we’re opting for a new approach these next few patch cycles. Lots of changes are planned in the upcoming patches and a lot of content is or has been on PBE for awhile. We’d like you guys to talk to us about your questions or concerns with upcoming content - We’ve tested a lot of it and would be more than happy to give you guys insight on how the changes are panning out. If you’d like us to test something in particular out - let us know and we can try to get it into a playtest.

The biggest changes on PBE right now are the jungle changes & the Marksman changes.

We’d love for players to get in on this & help the Playtest team make Patch 8.10 launch as smoothly as possible!

Do you think "true damage creep" is going to be a problem with the recent introduction of Conqueror, and now the new Infinity Edge?

Do you guys think the Marksman nerfs go far enough?
To some it seems that the Delay in power is very slight and they will actually be More powerful when they hit 3 items.

There is an essence reaver users inequality:

ON ONE HAND: Multiple Hits / Cooldown started before Damage

  • Renekton's W and Shyvana's Q can reduce their own cooldown because the 2nd ( And 3rd for Renekton ) hit occurs after the cd start, because the Cooldown start with the first hit.

  • Same for Abilities like Ezreal's,Gangplank's, Yasuo's and Fizz's Q because the cooldown start as the ability is used, resulting in the on hit appening post cd start and having their Qs cooldown reduced by itself.

ON ANOTHER HAND:

  • Simple empowered autos such as Garen's, Trundle's and Nasus's Q or Jax's W aren't reducing their own cooldown because the landing of the ability start the cooldown.

  • Same for some abilities dealing damage and applying on hit on cooldown start ( Like Warwick's Q )

  • Abilities such as Fiora's W, Chogath's E or Kled's W can't reduce themselve because the cooldown start after all the autos are consumed. That's a small problem that probably can't be solved so don't pay attention to these.

As a result there is a sort of inequality in term of usage of the essence reaver's steroid.

Question: Is it intended that stuff that applies on hit once and start their CD as the attack land can't have their on hit used for reducing their own cooldown thanks to essence reaver?

Or knowing that there wasn't ever any issue like this of maybe having to tweak the On Hit CD start to imput such mechanic ( Exept for Shyvana's Q but wasn't needed because 2nd hit was already applying the cd reduce so it was no need to make the first one too ) Are you going to be looking forward to change that?

The new Last Whisper is mechanic terrifying. With 3 lethality items assassins will be able to shred 83 armor down to 0... doing true damage. This is a 29% damage increase vs. squishies compared to live if I did my math right. Are AD assassins intended to be buffed this much?

It seems to me that there should be a clear distinction between squishy killing items (lethality) and tank busting items (last whisper). But on PBE the last whisper is an everything killing item that is great against all targets. I think the decision should be revisited.

guys what's with sudden hate towards the jungle role. literally nobody said that jungle is OP it was doing just fine. Now jungle gives less exp less gold less health in clear less time to gank ?!

a random move from you guys especially the mechete massive nerf ?! Toplaners cried long enough so you decided to make junglers toplane supports now ?

Hi Riot Balance Team. I am a Support main. I want propose some changes and give you guys my perspective on SHIELDS!

Whatever the changes for shields to come, I hoping for no decrease on base shield values again. My reasoning is:

    • Damage and poke feel so high nowadays!
    • Decreasing shields base value is a lazy way to solve things and very unexciting.

My suggestions:

    • An item that does %damage through shields or other item option that can help VS shield comps like Grievous Wounds exists for healing champions.
    • I strongly suggest a new effec to shields: (SDOT) that is: "Shield Decay Over Time".

This would be realllllly sweet and here is why: ---> Decaying shields are means to nerf shields and ALSO act as a form of skill expression, it makes well timed shields be the most effective of all, which requires a good timing or good prediction skills to get the most of the ability!

My conclusion:

    • Damage/Poke feels very high.
    • In case shields need nerfs, please consider changes that do also enable SKILL expression such as timing and prediction and not just adjust numbers.

I'm the Support Orianna player from a few months ago. Do note that Ori's shield has a delay, it isn't an instantaneous shield like a Lulu's, Janna's or Karma's. It is also one of the reasons I really do enjoy playing her as a support, I feel that there's more skill expression and fun to be had with her than to play with other enchanters. ** ~LifelessAngel**

Hey! It's me again on item 3508. I just noticed that some Part spells with CD on start like Riven 's Q or Renekton 's E CANNOT reduce their CD if the spell is not fully used, EVEN if the cooldown starts on the first cast.

Basically, if you E once with Renekton and hit a something (get your 2nd E) for example, and auto attacks afterward (between the 2 Es) will NOT reduce your E cooldown because it's still up, even if the actual E cooldown has started before then. You can clearly see it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqOsD-r0gn0&feature=youtu.be I auto-attacked twice between my E cooldown that has 8 seconds, and after I use my 2nd E the cooldown appears to be 7 seconds left (Only the time I used for the 2 auto attacks, no reduction.

Will this be fixed?

Can you confirm or deny if GP Q will proc Stormrazor? It currently does not on PBE but there is talk that it is due to a bug.

With the attack speed lowered from Hunter's Machete this will make marksman junglers weaker..

Can Kindred please get some love, they've been rather weak and they can't play any other role then jungle cause of their passive. (They can but it'll make them a lot less useful)

Are you guys watching or testing kindred at all with the changes and how this can really mess with their ability to get marks in the early game as well as how much the ADC items which they also buy being more expensive from the jungle doubly hurt their ability to scale as they should since they are a "late game scaling champion" supposedly.

Can you please provide some thoughts/feedback on Urgot? Pretty frustrating to continue seeing him lose item options and get indirect nerfs from the melee vs ranged items/keystone struggles.

He is punished for being ranged in the bruiser/juggernaut itemization and keystone (cant use half the items or keystones). Punished/gated from new AD items because of his kit (no incentive to stack AD & AS/MS do nothing because of his W interactions). On top of that his “unstoppable” ultimate is stopped by pretty much half the ability interactions in the game.

Suggestion: Love the rework theme, but doesn’t seem like there was much of a plan on the future balance side. If we’re unwilling to address his itemization issues then I think he needs to be addressed with major numbers changes like Gallo was (AD scaling to make AD items attractive). Please let me know that someone at riot has remembered Urgot with all these major game updates.

@Riot, I'm supposed to tell you from a friend that Trundle's E Pillar Cooldown is too long.

Maybe you could revert or partially revert the 6.17 nerfs?

His Top Lane win rate -- where a CDR buff would affect him the most -- is currently at 48%, so ... there's a justification if you need a justification. Otherwise you could maybe do it as a favor? Would totally appreciate it.

I've been experimenting with jungling and focusing different lanes to see the outcomes of the impact my focus to a lane can result in. I know PBE isn't the best matchmaking, but bot focus seems even more important on the PBE with the ADC changes. It feels like the Ardent meta, but instead of funneling gold into the support to get ardent, you funnel all the gold into the ADC because their items are a tad more expensive but do more damage now. It also feels a lot harder to come back from the enemy having a fed ADC as well.

Have any of the playtesters felt this way as well?

On ivern, in the patch notes it said "his early game is a bit too punishing"

so why did you reduce his late game cost more than his early?

Pre buff: 146.25--->176 Post buff: 131.63--->121

It's strange that you made his late game cost lower than his early lol, even though the same thing happens for his mana cost.

Thoughts on the Ryze and Azir work going on the PBE this patch?

Any concerns that the new IE might actually still be too strong? I could be wrong but the math looks like it actually hits harder late game than old IE.
