Visual Effects Update: Teemo

Hello everyone!

Similar to the recent Jarvan, Lee Sin, Veigar, and Vi updates, we're working on VFX and SFX updates to more champions whose spell effects are in need of some love to get to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity. In Patch 8.24, we'll be releasing VFX and SFX updates for Anivia, Dr. Mundo and Renekton, and VFX-only updates for Gragas (he already received some SFX love) and Teemo. Please try them out on the PBE—especially if you're a main—when they're in and leave us your feedback here!

Today's preview covers the visual effects updates to Teemo, the Swift Scout. (He has not received any sound updates.)

##VFX ###VFX update across the board to clean up unnecessary noise and improve gameplay clarity. BA - New missile and hit impact. Q - Missile is now much more different from the BA and clearly identifiable. Impact is also more satisfying. W - Added some love to the VFX, making it feel more satisfying, with some added leaves and dust. E - Missile is now clearly visible and identifiable. R - Now has an actual explosion that shows the actual AOE range. Yes, it is that big.

All of Teemo's skins have had their VFX updated, with unique shroom explosions where it made sense. Astronaut Teemo should now feel like an actual 1350. Cottontail Teemo received some extra love.

Base Teemo empowered basic attacks lack the obvious color difference of Astronaut Teemo's, which seems odd. I feel like that should be made consistent across skins as either a color change or NOT a color change -- currently all the other skins seem to shift slightly orange, which I might recommend here. Astronaut Teemo Q also sounds very much like the empowered auto-attack, so I'd look to differentiate those a bit more -- this is somewhat the case in all the skins, but most pronounced here.

Otherwise, fantastic job as usual! I'm loving these.

I know it's a more recent skin, but could use please take a look at the AA animation for Omega Squad Teemo? It's the easiest of his skins to accidentally cancel before it hits. It feels way more inconsistent than Beemo or Little Devil or even the base skin.

As someone with almost 300K mastery points on Teemo, I'm always happy when this champion receives a little bit of love. I think that all the changes to his visual are fantastic. My only complaint is, if Teemo's visuals are being updated, this would seem like the perfect opportunity to change Happy Elf Teemo's mushrooms into presents. Personally I've always thought it was one of the largest waste of opportunities and have always hoped that the skin would receive this change. Really hope that the mushrooms on that skin get changed, but if not, still a fantastic job done on the visual updates

Not sure if its possible but can you guys adds a little jiggle to the mushrooms if you bounce them off each other

I think every Q animation should share the deep "whump" sound of the base animation--Astronaut doesn't have it.

That noise strongly conveys that something dark and smokey has just happened to you!

His darts are shot from his mouth ? Cmon rito I understand darts needs to be appearing as soon as possible for multiple reasons but at least align the blowgun with it pls

It looks like Q will be super obvious in comparison to normal auto attacks now, which is good for clarity but also a nerf in even upper level (high gold-plat) play where I can usually bait defensive skills with autos.

I'm okay with this, but can we also get the programming team in on this and make it so blind applies a bit earlier. It feels really bad it never applies to that first auto attack (melee or ranged) an enemy sends out after the dart hits. It feels like there's a small delay from when the dart hits and when it takes effect. I think it has to do with when the animation of the opponents attack starts also being the point it checks for blind and the difference between the attack starting and sending can have it line up so that even though they got hit by the dart and should be blinded they weren't were the attack started. It's a very small window but it feels real bad in close fights when it kills you.

As a Teemo main, my only suggestion is that Astronaut Teemo's W should get a bit more effects similar to how Cottontail has Eggs falling down and making a trail. The dust isn't that noticeable. Maybe have some mini asteroids come flying out or have his steps make footprints similar to the moon landing?

I'm a bit late to the post, I saw it a few days ago but couldn't comment. Firstly, I love the update, most of the details are very nice and I like how astronaut changed for the better. But this also lead to a tiny bit of dissapointment, when I got Little elf Teemo a while back, I was hoping that in the future in a visual update his ultimate would be tweaked so he would put down little presents, the skin is quite old and usually these types of legacy skins are more special than normal skins. I understand its only a 520RP skin and I still like how it looks regardless of that, I can only hope that one day his ultimate in that skin become little presents.

Can you make it so the shots come from the end of his "gun" instead of from his head? Is Omega Squad Teemo staying the same?

My only feedback is for the poison VFX above the head bone, needs to be updated, those bunches of gradient balls are outdated.

Awesome work! The only thing I'm missing is a different auto animation for omega squad. Right now it feels so clunky and it's super easy to cancel.

Very nice changes! Great work! I like the large "boom". This is more frightening to the enemies now :)

Maybe this is the time to fix one point, which is even visible in the video at 0:12. You hear the sound of your auto attack, but the attack was cancelled. If you play, you listen to the sound of your champ, hear the auto, click to another location and .... you have cancelled your auto, because you were too fast. For me as a low elo player this is pretty annoying.

Rework his W- completely, give E active part, make Q actual blind & skillshot, give shroom's ability to bounce on more shrooms as u level up this ability.. Imo is teemo outdated and sometimes I think about something like: Hey, remember when Teemo was annoying? He is joke now, there is so many more annoing champion than him, Im not saying make him more annoying but, available to pick and not be scared of teammates hate u for that pick.. THanks for reading.. love visuals btw, but dont think its enough

Wonderful! Are these visual updates limited to the skins shown, or will they eventually be cascaded down to the more premium skins (Omega Squad, Little Devil)?

Yeah, I like the changes. BUT ... I still think Teemo should be changed as a whole or at least receive a gameplay update. I don't know how much Riot interns talk about champs like Pantheon, Teemo or Tryndamere for example ... but it really is time for those champs to get updated. They are not fun to play or at least not fun to against and have outdated rather boring mechanics ... if they have mechanics at all. I understand why you hesitate on changing such iconic characters but you guys showed a lot of times that reworks can work, are healthy to the game and still stick to the gameplay theme the character always had.
