So my 3-day suspension on the boards just got lifted today...

And I just have a few questions if a moderator (or any other board user for that matter) feels like answering them.

  1. I was suspended for using a certain "bad word" (even though I didn't even write the full word and I didn't even write it with ill intent in mind but that's besides the point) and I just wanted to know. Is there a list of "no-no words" lying around or do I have to flip a coin every time I make a post, being unsure whether or not one of the words I used was a "bad" one?

  2. What are the "levels" of penalties on the boards? This was my first suspension and it was a 3-day one. Will the next one be permanent or is the next one the same penalty/a bigger one?

Thanks in advance.

Certainly.

The word was obviously hate speech, and you included enough of it to be obvious what the intent was. For practical purposes that is basically the same as writing the word in the first place.

All words considered hate speech, all derogatory/pejorative language. We don't have a hard list because, if we did, people would find derogatory language that isn't on it and claim immunity.

Depends on the violation. If it's a similar offense, likely a 7-day or a permanent suspension depending on context, as that's a big violation and you've been warned. If it's an unrelated offense, possibly a lesser punishment or the same again. It's really a matter of the type of offense, the severity of the offense, and how quickly it follows on the heels of a previous punishment.

For one don't swear and don't say the n word. Idk why everybody is freaking out about the n word specifically but yeah. Don't wish for anybody's death or something like that. And just be PG 10. Pretend that the only "bad" word you know is poop. Other than that everything is forbidden mostly.
