why isn't there a global boards?

rawiazam1··3 votes·2,986 views

why are there regional boards when some boards get traction more than others. espicially when you get the na boards when you search for: "lol boards" in google. i think it'll be better to have global boards than having regional boards and allowin everyone to post in every region, given the fact that all regions have the same patches, i see no reason to seperate the boards

Language difference is a pretty big reason

Makes sense. People on the NA boards speak North American, people on the EUW boards speak Western European and people on the EUNE boards speak Northeastern European, so these groups make sense.

Your delicious sarcasm is filling.

I'm referring to .. THE REST OF THE WORLD.

You might notice that you will frequently see people post from EUW and EUNE on here.

You will even see people from other regions on occasion, but they're pretty much always posting in English. That may be because they are smarter than us and we require everything to be done in our language instead of learning other languages for ourselves.

I try.

Huh? The topic is about different boards for the different regions. How exactly are you referring to the rest of the world that makes your comment about language difference make any sense?

Sure.

Don't lump me in that category, I live in Europe and English is my second language. I just play on NA. And still you said nothing supporting language barrier being a reason for different boards for the different regions.

I would apologize for assuming that you live in NA, but I think that is a fair assumption considering that you're summoner name is on the NA server.

.... I don't know how to spell it out any clearer for you. ... The fact is, most other regions, outside of NA / EUW / EUNE, commonly speak languages other than English.

Not having a common or standard language for people to use makes DISCUSSIONS difficult.

I would think that should be obvious.

THIS Discussion Board has a standard language of English. OTHER Discussion Boards have a standard language according to their region.

How is a language barrier not an issue for a discussion board?

How are people supposed to DISCUSS things if they can't understand what people are saying?

This is exactly what my initial response to you was about, wtf. If language was the motivation then there would be boards per language, not giant regions encompassing countires with a wide variety of languages. It's sad that I have to spell it out like this...

Like the Northeastern European language?

I mean, I only studied Japanese for 1 year, so I had to invest a few minutes and a kanji dictionary, but I managed to get the gist.

どのようにしてこのように意味のあるコミュニケーションをとることができますか?

Well, in this case limited, as I said, my Japanese is shitty at best. But that's beside the point. Saying that the language barrier is the reason for the regional separation of the boards fails in how there are boards that are assigned to people of various languages and people who speak the same language, Americans, Brittish and Australians for example are split. So the language barrier was clearly not a concern in separating the community based on which server they play.

Lol okay, ... well I'm going to disagree.

However, I want to point out that I said it was a "pretty big reason" not that it was the only reason, or even the main reason.

So think what you want, but it is definitely part of the reason, and valid enough to justify my comment.

Have a good day [slayer-jinx-catface]

Actually, not everyone can post in every region! NA accounts can't post on EUW or EUNE, and I don't believe KOR or OCE accounts can either.

The only exception I'm aware of is NA, and that exception is given because most Rioters (and the entire design/development team) is NA-based, so Riot decided to let every player have the chance to easily read/respond to Riot comments.

GripaAviara2 votes

I think NA boards is the "global" boards. I don't use the others because there's no chance for a rioter to read a comment so they are just useless decoys

Eldeazar2 votes

They are not "decoys". They are a forum for league players of your region. Not every discussion needs riot intervention. I find regional boards great for the community.

Because most people don't want to sift through a mountain of baguettes and burritos to find threads they can read
