Why does the upvote count starts at 1 on the boards?
What's the point of automatically upvoting a thread by the one that have created it? Why can someone even upvote or downvote his own thread/comment?

'cause it feels better to have a bunch of threads at 1 than a bunch of threads at 0, and it's extra tech (that doesn't gain us anything at the end of the day) to not let someone upvote their own thread. In short, it's part of the way the boards are built, and we're really not bothered by it enough to change it.
If you are schizophrenic and your other self thinks that you are an idiot so he downvotes you but he can't do that if you can't downvote yourself.
Know what I mean?
