Not cool @Mods

MiracleMorg94··1 votes·3,323 views

I was waiting on Wilk and a mod that can't be named said I could lose privileges to the Discord so I said I would come back later.

I came back and I can't get in, says my invite is invalid.

Not cool.

He didn't say it was taken away. This is wrong to take it away before I can even talk to the mod that wrongly punished me earlier.

I ask calmly, please let me back in.

Thank you.

I explained to you that your situation was reviewed, and that the ban would be staying. I explained to you why that would be the case, based on similar patterns and previous warnings with no change of behavior or acknowledgement that your behavior was deemed unacceptable for the boards. It was a Herald team review, as is standard for unban requests. The specific moderator in question could tell you why he removed that particular comment, but it was part of the same pattern of behavior I explained to you personally. The Herald team upheld the punishment. You do not get to stick around forever trying to petition other members of the moderation team, nor are you entitled to constantly request moderator attention because you are not happy with the verdict. Your statement that you would continue to ask until you were unbanned is what resulted in your Discord access being revoked, as that behavior results in a lot of annoying pings for something that is a settled matter as far as the moderation team is concerned.

I am happy to unban you from the Discord provided you are not simply going to use that as an opportunity to reopen a situation that has been decided. At this point your only remaining option would be submit a support ticket and see if Riot Keyru is interested in taking a look into your specific case.

MiracleMorg941 votes

Wow. So banning someone after you threaten them, which made me say I was going to come back later so I wouldn't, and still get banned instead....can't believe my eyes.

That is wrong, and moderation abuse on top.

I was wrongly punished and never got to talk to the mod I wanted. I have history with you and that's why I didn't want to talk to you.

This is wrong on many levels.

This is not settled with me.

But in any case, please unban me so I can see if I can get with Keyru just in case the support ticket doesn't get to him.

Some situations do not entitle you to get the specific moderator you wish. In cases where a permanent ban is contested we prefer to let the Herald team handle it, especially in cases where there is cross-team agreement that the rules have been broken but the poster in question is not willing to accept that.

But in any case, please unban me so I can see if I can get with Keyru just in case the support ticket doesn't get to him.

At this time I will not be unbanning you unless you can assure me that you will not continue to ping us about a case we consider resolved. If you simply want it to have access to Keyru and are willing to DM her on Discord or wait patiently until such time as she can handle your case, then I will lift the ban.

I didn't break any rules. You all take things out of hand, on top that I didn't even get a final warning and was punished with both accounts being taken away.

At this time I will not be unbanning you unless you can assure me that you will not continue to ping us about a case we consider resolved. Again, moderation abuse by not letting me talk with Wilk. So wrong. But I am only wanting access to Keyru now. I will not ping Wilk.

{quoted}...on top that I didn't even get a final warning and was punished with both accounts being taken away.

As per the message you were sent with your last 14-day ban on the SnugglePuggle94 account:

Due to the severity of your actions, we have decided to issue a final warning and a 14-day suspension to your Boards account. During this time, you should take the time to review the Boards Universal Rules and applicable sub-board guidelines. Failure to adhere to these rules and guidelines will result in a permanent suspension of your Boards privileges.

And as per the Board Universal Rules:

Do not use alternate accounts to post rule-breaking content if you have an account serving a Boards suspension. Do not post rule-breaking content on behalf of an individual serving a Boards suspension.

Emphasis mine.

Again, moderation abuse by not letting me talk with Wilk.

This is not something you are entitled to in all situations. We do not have a policy of letting people chose who handles their case, especially in cases like this.

But I am only wanting access to Keyru now. I will not ping Wilk.

Then I will lift your Discord ban. Please be warned that Keyru is not always available, especially on weekends. She will respond when she is able and when she chooses to do so.

I've never seen those rules, which is bs.

I was wrongly punished on my main account and tried to talk with Wilk about it a few days ago but could never get in touch with him.

Again, I was wrongly punished and have been wrongly attacked by you and others which I'm tired of.

I didn't break any rules. I didn't curse at Riot. I asked for a deletion of a champ and questioned their motive as to why they could even let this champ be created. That was all. Reading on the internet is hard to find the correct tone of people's words. I wasn't being aggressive but whatever, you all won't listen to me anymore anyway.

I will wait on Keyru as long as I need too.

ModThe Djinn6 votes

{quoted}I've never seen those rules, which is bs.

They have been part of the Universal Rules since the beginning, and are readily accessible to all board members.

Reading on the internet is hard to find the correct tone of people's words.

I'm legitimately curious what tone some of these comments were meant in then, as many of them seem pretty directly insulting or pretty directly asking for people to be fired/not have their job.

MiracleMorg941 votes

It's been a long time since I read those rules but whatever.

My tone was a tiny bit of frustration mixed with just- what's the right word- shock, that they would bring this champion into the game.

Uh....unless you are recalling my old post with SnugglePuggle94 about Neeko, then I have not asked for a firing since then. I got punished for that and never asked for a firing after.

My recent punishments were for the Delete Sylas posts and a deletion of a comment about reporting and ignorning but I wasn't punished for it, just a mod telling me not to get in the last word.

My recent Delete Sylas post with MissMikasa is what I'm talking about. I didn't ask for a firing at all. Was just in shock they would/are bringing Sylas live and asking for a deletion because this champ is an unbalanceable nightmare and will cost a lot of tilting and LP to players.

I wasn't being aggressive. I was trying my best not to insult or curse either. I was just shocked.

{quoted}Uh....unless you are recalling my old post with SnugglePuggle94 about Neeko, then I have not asked for a firing since then. I got punished for that and never asked for a firing after.

On 1/9/2019 your SnugglePuggle94 account made the following post:

Because it makes me shake my head each time in disbelief to see how god awful, stupid, mind blowing things they keep putting in the game.

I really wish these people who make these decisions had never been hired in the first place.

You were specifically warned "Always be respectful to players, community members, moderators, and Rioters. Harassment and insults will not be tolerated."

You then violated two separate rules on your other account after your final warning:

Maybe you need to go back to school kiddo.

It is correct that you were not punished for this one. You were, however, told "...continued antagonizing or harassing comments will result in an increased penalty."

There was also this, which was another antagonistic Riot-targeted post that veers too far into antagonism.

And a champ that steals ultimates?! Are you daft Riot?! Or just run out if ideas and slapped this on him?

Because you clearly are continuing to fall in the black hole you've already created since GC brought Runes Reforged in. It's only getting deeper with the more stupid decisions you make.

When we see continued patterns of overly-aggressive, insulting posts without a change in approach or a tempering of the message, and when it is clear that warnings are not causing a change in behavior, we do resort to bans. At no point in our multiple discussions have I seen any inclination that you are open to anything but us saying this behavior is not an issue, which is why we find ourselves in this situation. I see five bans of various lengths associated with this behavior, but no change in the behavior itself.

On 1/9/2019 your SnugglePuggle94 account made the following post: I really wish these people who make these decisions had never been hired in the first place.

Again, that wasn't asking for a firing. It was a wish that I was talking about in regards to the topic the post was about. It wasn't harassment.

Asking for a firing is "I want this person fired." My wish was "I wish these people hadn't been hired." I wasn't using it as harassment, just saying that if they hadn't been hired, these decisions that everyone is talking about and frustrated about wouldn't have been made. I was just talking to others, not harassing.

You were specifically warned "Always be respectful to players, community members, moderators, and Rioters. Harassment and insults will not be tolerated."

Again, wasn't harassment or used as an insult.

You then violated two separate rules on your other account after your final warning:

It is correct that you were not punished for this one. You were, however, told "...continued antagonizing or harassing comments will result in an increased penalty."

That person in question was being a jerk but whatever. There are tons of people on here that have done worse to others.

There was also this, which was another antagonistic Riot-targeted post that veers too far into antagonism. Because you clearly are continuing to fall in the black hole you've already created since GC brought Runes Reforged in. It's only getting deeper with the more stupid decisions you make.

That was my Delete Sylas post. Again I wasn't insulting. Was trying to show Riot that a decision like bringing Sylas live will make the game worse and trying to show them they need to make better decisions.

It wasn't antagonism.

Again, things were taken out of hand on basically every punishment because people can't read my tone over the internet. Besides the calling for a firing which I can see but not the others.

My behavior hasn't been an issue. If you all slow down and actually think about it, you would see that. Aggressive tones are like "fuck you Riot you are a horrible game that spits out stupid ass decisions that make the game bad." (using this as an example, don't get your panties in a bunch).

I can't recall every post I've made in the past so I can't speak for them but my recent ones were just shock. My intention when I made them was never to be aggressive.

I'm just frustrated now because this has happened to me on top of the shitty week I've had with my dog dying from cancer. And it frustrates me to my core when I'm making discussion with my posts and people take it out of hand.

Then my honest recommendation would be to acknowledge that perhaps your tone is an issue, as we have explained multiple times. If your posts are not -- in your mind -- antagonistic and insulting but you keep getting them moderated by multiple moderators and the entire team (including Keyru, in your one recorded conversation with her) tell you they are overly antagonistic and in violation of the rules, then it seems that the easy course of action is to moderate your tone, as it is clearly coming across in ways you may not intend, and those ways are getting you into trouble. I'm legitimately a bit puzzled on why you seem intent on maintaining the tone that has been deemed problematic when there are many other ways to get your frustration across in a more board-acceptable manner that would not result in your accounts getting banned.

MiracleMorg941 votes

I'm just really passionate about things, and if I'm shocked or a bit frustrated when something happens with Riot or the boards it just blows my mind so even though I don't intend, my mind is overloaded so I post and then bam the mods go after me.

Like now I've calmed down and I'm kicking myself in the butt for what I've done including cursing at you in the Discord which I sincerely apologize for. I let my anger get through because of the history I've had with you last year and I shouldn't have done it.

Again just really passionate but I don't see that others can read it wrong when my mind gets overloaded.

I can understand that. I'll admit I don't understand the response that the moderation actions get. I did look at your previous interactions on our Discord server, and, largely across the board, they were similar to today's -- a refusal to acknowledge that there may have been some issue with the message or the tone of your comments, and that all your behavior was entirely acceptable and the moderation team was obviously biased against you.

Honestly, we're not. We don't like banning people. My ideal solution would have been for you to go "Oh, hey. Yeah, that was angrier than I intended. I'll work on that" or at the very least "I may not agree, but I guess the rules are the rules. I'll tone it back a bit." Preferably about four punishments ago. That's the sort of thing that lets us know we can go easier punishment-wise on someone, 'cause they acknowledge an issue (even if they don't agree with it) and let us know they'll try to follow the rules more.

Like now I've calmed down and I'm kicking myself in the butt for what I've done including cursing at you in the Discord which I sincerely apologize for. I let my anger get through because of the history I've had with you last year and I shouldn't have done it.

Apology accepted. It's sort of part and parcel with the moderation title. I know we won't please everyone all the time, and I know people are often frustrated, which is precisely why we have an escalation system with multiple warnings and opportunities to come talk with us.

MiracleMorg941 votes

Probably more so that I let my anger get to me when I get punished. It's something that until recently I hadn't noticed before and sometimes it still gets to me but I've been working hard to recognize and stop. Doesn't help that I think I inherited some of my father's behavior.

So then when I get angry I can't see the issue at hand. I do recognize now that it's been my tone and mostly I don't intend for it to get taken the wrong way when I'm passionate but not angry at the time.

The four punishments ago I don't even remember because it's been so long so I was probably still knee deep in my anger issues. I apologize for any harassment that I did back in the Discord back then as well.

Like now I'm more calm and I tried again with my delete/redo Sylas post on the Gameplay board. I worked hard to be calm in tone and not use anything that could be taken away as harassment and asked politely for Riot to take my thoughts into consideration. Ironically I'm getting downvotes on this one while my other that I got punished for had tons of upvotes lol.

Again I'm sorry and I will continue to work hard on my tone on the Internet so nothing further happens.

The new post is much better and more appropriate. I'm not surprised it's getting MORE downvotes though -- antagonism tends to get upvotes from those who are likewise SUPER angry with Riot, while more measured responses are often skipped by them, so you get people more willing to read/consider before agreeing or disagreeing.

Again I'm sorry and I will continue to work hard on my tone on the Internet so nothing further happens.

It's much appreciated. Thank you.

@OP

Hey! I'm interested in your case. I agree that the "I wish this person was never hired" wasn't worth a removal. The mod team disagrees, but it's whatever. We can't change how they view things.

That being said, I'm interested in your other violations. Can you perhaps DM me them on discord? I'd like to see your posts that were removed along with the moderator messages than came with them. Thanks.

Alright so after discussing this with OP and the mods, I am officially on #TeamUnbanOP.

They got a permanent ban for "being rude to Riot Games (the company)" for feeling that their decision making regarding Sylas' design to be stupid. I will post the actual thread below so that everyone may read it and determine for themselves if it was truly worth a removal or not. <removed by moderation> Are we not allowed to criticize Riot Games anymore on the Riot Games Forum?

Anyways... OP's previous warnings, as given to me by OP, show that they told people they would be reporting them. While I disagree that telling people you will report them should be against the rules, I cannot deny that it is currently against the rules to tell people you will be reporting them for breaking the rules as the mods have told me so themselves in the past. Another previous deletion was wishing someone at Riot was never hired. I also disagree that this should be against the rules, but we cannot change the mods' minds on this one.

Perhaps there is some information I am missing, but until that has been made known to me I stand on #TeamUnbanOP.

There is indeed information that you are missing, including previous conversations with the individual and multiple removals across multiple accounts spanning back a rather long time, and a history of similar-pattern behavior despite numerous warnings does mean that offenses that would normally be a warning (or ignored entirely as part of the leeway we extend to typically well-behaved board members) can be escalated when it is clear that a problematic pattern is continuing. While I understand your interest, I will caution that this sort of back-seat moderation does not really assist in getting any sort of resolution: we have access to all the data here you have and more, and there is information you are missing that is not something we will share with someone who is not the party in question.

##You are definitely allowed to criticize Riot. You do, however, need to follow the golden rule when you do so:

Always be respectful to players, community members, moderators, and Rioters.

This rule can be broken in severity, in frequency, or in a combination of the two, just like most of the behavioral rules on the boards and in-game. All of these are problems.

I will also request that you not link to deleted threads, as those threads are deleted for a reason. While we sometimes allow an OP to do that on this board, it is not something that other board members should be doing. As a result, I have removed the link in question.
