did the algorithm of which posts get to hot got changed?

i remember about a month ago posts that got more downvotes than upvotes but a pretty high traction still managed to get to hot. now i see no post that managed to get to hot with more downvotes than upvotes, did anything change?

and if so, shouldn't hot be more about traction and less about approval?

Hmm maybe the 'villains' of the boards just aren't as active as they used to be and people comment less.

I was thinking about a way to surpass the 1k downvotes thread without breaking the board rules but haven't been able to come up with yet. Would be a fun experiment and you'd be able to test your theory a bit.

As far as I'm aware, no changes have been made recently to the algorithm that sorts the "Hot" category.
