I come to the boards to read and talk about League of Legends the game but instead for the past week all ive seen is this tabloid nonsense whining and crying about someone who pissed people off

It's going back to normal. Make a thread about the game if you want to see more discussions on the game.
It would be nice if the boards moderation was treating this like Reddit did and nipping the 4chan style trolls in the bud before they became a problem.
Unfortunately, they did way too little too late, hence why the boards have been a troll fest for a while. I'm not sure why they didn't do anything, be it manpower or because nobody had the guts to step up and protect the boards, but it doesn't show well that they didn't as a team step up to this challenge.
