Question for Board Moderator Team

Have any of you considered hosting a private community driven discussion board? There are numerous options for both free and paid hosting services, some of which offer some pretty advanced customization capabilities.

Here is one free example: https://www.phpbb.com/ This one even has a fairly active development community that builds extensions for community use.

Personally, content quality and curation aside, I am not a fan of the reddit format and would be happy to see a new home for discussions where I can see more than 2 topics at a time.

We've had a few conversations, but, ultimately, such a thing isn't super likely at this point in time (short of keeping the Moderation Discord up and my own personal Design/Concept Discord). I know if I were to do something like that it would probably end up very different from the Boards, and I'm not sure that's something people were interested in -- let alone that I'd have to build a new moderation team for a smaller community.

I'm no expert at that sort of thing and my work takes me away from the internet for extended periods of time so I cannot do something like that. I also know the consequences of a private run forum that doesn't have official backing (ask anyone that was a member of the GD community when the transition from the forums to the boards was made). If someone chooses to attempt to do so, I will gladly assist best I can, but I don't see that being likely at this time.

I too hate the Reddit format and would prefer a forum format so hopefully there is something out there for us. I'll be on Discord until such a thing is found.

I'm a programmer, and I was working on this since they announced it. Sadly Riot doesn't offer OAUth authentication (main reason I stopped in my tracks) and this is no way for a third-party website to properly verify a summoner to a user. (Although I am trying stuff with icons and bot games however it is impossible to be 100% sure that it's a certain summoner so due to that alone logins would be difficult) and I would even do it for free to keep a nice place for the good members. Though moderation would be a priority (no offence to mods a lot of them were good, the boards dying is mainly riot's fault but there was a noticeable lack of deletion of low quality posts and such) if anyone is interested or has ideas my discord is Steven4547466#1407
