Comment Singled Out For Deletion
My comment was deleted for raising a political subject, even though its political content was at most implicitly in reply to statements by another user, HalcyonDweller, that would be explicitly political by any standard whereby mine would be deleted. The comments that he made remain; therefore, unless his comments also deserve deletion, I would like mine replaced.
Specifically, in response to a comment by HalcyonDweller that the President of the United States throws blame around, I wrote, “Yeah... they say he’s not right in the head”. He replied that he hoped the President “did not see another term”. Only my comment was deleted.
I am not here to argue that what I said was far from the edges of what is allowed. To that end, I will say only that I was mentioning allegations made against the President, with my attitude toward them being implied at most and the comment provided for clarity, since the President’s alleged tendencies to blame or criticize have indeed been the subject of much discussion in the United States. But if it was on the wrong side, then so was HalcyonDweller’s frank expression of hope that he would not be re-elected.
I am not here to argue that, if his comment was political, then I was justified in ‘just replying’. Rather, I ask that unless his comment, which remains, should also be removed, my comment be replaced. It is singling out, rather than a consistent application of the rule against political discussion, that a mere reference to allegations be obliterated while a plain statement of fear of a future electoral outcome remains. We deserve to have our chain of comments either recorded with the others or removed entirely for its politicization.
