Changes I would make to Tristana's kit to make her more fun
I made this thread on the forums about a week ago, and while I was hoping for some actual discussion, it didn't last too long, so I'm reposting it here hoping I can get more people's opinions, thoughts, and criticisms, as well as your own ideas on what to do with Tristana, even if that's nothing.
Wall-of-text incoming. I'll try and make it interesting.
First thing I'd like to mention, I don't think Tristana needs a full kit rework. Honestly, I think only one of her abilities needs changing (her E), with maybe two others (Q and R) getting some very slight tweaks.
Before I give my own suggestions on how these abilities can be changed, let me just say that her E, to me, feels incredibly unsatisfying. The passive on it helps with wave clearing, but early on it only serves to push the lane regardless if I want to or not and mess with my CSing. Also, in general, I am just not a fan of "point-and-click" abilities, especially when a Champ has so many of them (Ryze is a slightly different matter, and a conversation for another time). Aside from Trist's rocket jump and her long-range AA-ing late-game, she just feels incredibly boring to play in general.
Also, reducing health regen and healing by 50%? Really? As I said before, Trist's E feels like the most unsatisfying ability in the game to use (in my own opinion of course), and even as AP Trist I feel very cheap using it as it just does a bunch of free damage with no skill or counter-play to it at all. Point-and-click. Damage over time. No fun.
So, how would I change her kit? Well first off I'd probably replace her E completely with a new ability, and move the passive to her Q. Her E can/should be something else more satisfying to use. Maybe like some kind of lobbed grenade-like explosive shot at a specified location? Like a kind of smaller scale Kog'Maw ult, increasing in range with each point? Or, maybe even increase it with Tristana's AA range, and have each point in it only increase damage and/or mana cost and/or decrease cooldown. I don't know, anything honestly would feel better than how it is now.
- What if the lobbed explosive shot E idea I mentioned had two instance of damage, first the impact in a small zone (scaling off AD), and then a slightly delayed explosion in a slightly larger zone around it (scaling off AP)?
The only other "major change" I would make to Tristana would be to her ult, and that'd be making it a skillshot, one that could also have its range increase with Trist's AA range. I don't know if the missile should be thinner, and then fan out Graves ult style upon hitting something, pushing everything in the fan back as it does now, or just make the whole missile itself wide, and everything in it just gets pushed back. Maybe a slightly thinner missile would be better, idk.
I'm expecting downvotes, but oh well. What do you guys think of these slight changes? How would you guys personally change her, if you would change her at all?
