Unifying Aesthetics

I've noticed with Riot's latest Champions and VU's that champions are receiving what I call "unifying aesthetics". Braum naturally has ice visual effects... but his unifying theme seems to be "cracking ice": his passive detonates with a satisfying shatter, his Q breaks upon impact, his R sends out a glacial fissure, etc. It fits him since he's so macho. and that's why it's clever. Nasus has been using some dark purples ever since his VU. He's falls under the "Bad Powers, Good People" trope; his W ages you, his E glows with an otherworldly energy. But it doesn't seem evil despite this: it looks exotic and mystical, befitting his lore.

As more champions receive VU's, they'll likely be subjected to this treatment, which is great in my opinion. But I want to ask... since I'm a newer player and don't have as much as a relationship with the older champs... what unifying aesthetic should they have? It has to go beyond simple elements, e.g. fire or water. Would Lee Sin have a unifying theme of cleansing fire, sound-waves or even spiritual light? Discuss.
