Caitlyn or Graves

Caitlyn Graves Hey people, I havent been playing LOL for too long (im level 8) so im asking for some advice before grabing my new champion. I already have Twisted Fate who i think is awesome but I would still like to play as someone else every once in a while. At first I was saving up for Graves because he was going to be my first choice before I saw TF, but then I found Caitlyn and I kinda like her abilities too (plus she's kinda hot (; ) and Im having a hard time deciding which to get first. I have all my runes and mastery pages set to Ability Power so if one of them uses that more over the other I would like to know. Also, get me a hint about playstyles, I picked up TF but i really like being a "sniper" so just tell me which one you prefer. Thank you for your help!

Graves is a lot of fun in his own right, but is really reliant on positioning in fights- his maximum damage output is achieved at point-blank range, which is way dangerous for a squishy adc, tanky passive or no. (That being said Leona/Graves bot is one of the most brutal kill-lanes in the whole game.)

Caitlyn, on the other hand, is the epitome of a safe pick. Her range keeps her out of the way of harass, her passive is great for harassing other champs, and her ultimate is good for picking up kills. She's easy to pick up, and difficult to master- a good Cait will be a master of trapping key locations, and using the net for ultimate mobility.

So I'd say Cait for where you are in your League career. :) She's beginner friendly, and gets better as you do.

I would pick Cait. I have both of them and I honestly enjoy playing her more because she has a longer range.

As for the runes and masteries, don't put a ton of IP into runes just yet, better ones will become available as your level gets higher and you'll most likely end up not using the Tier 1 runes that you have now.

In regards to masteries, I suggest that you have at least one mastery page set up for an AD build. I think you can have a max of 20 (all for free) but since you only have 8 points to use, you probably would only need about 4 or 5 (if you made one for each role). Dont be afraid to branch out with the masteries (no pun intended)

They are two different champions.

Let's start with Caitlyn . She's a low skill, high range champion who has irritating mana costs. She depends less on skills and more on auto attacks. She attacks from afar and her ult picks off a target if used right.

Graves is a polar opposite. He specializes in close quarter combat, requring higher skill. His cooldowns are a bit long, but he is undoubtibly(?) powerful in the right hands. He focuses more on casting but has auto attacks mixed in.

The more important question: what is your mindset? What is your style?

If you can determine your style, the choice should be clear between these two.

I second what others have said about runes. Don't even bother to buy any until you can buy tier 3 runes. The early ones don't really do enough to make them worth it. Plus, you already have so much to think about as a beginner, why make it harder for yourself by adding in runes?

As to the pick, Caitlyn all the way. First, because she's easier. Second, because she's stronger in the current meta. And 3rd and most importantly because Cait's playstyle is closer to TF (the trap-peacemaker combo is similar to the gold card->3 cards combo, and she's got a long-range ulti).
