Taking Thresh Lantern on opposite side of wall

So I was spectating a friend's game earlier today and I saw Thresh throw a lantern but it landed on the bottom side of the wall. Volibear was on the other side of the wall from the lantern but he was still able to grab it somehow. Is that suppose to happen or is it a bug? There is some small range from which you can grab the lantern. It doesn't matter if there's a wall between you and it if you are within that range.

Other comment is correct technically. There is a small range however it miniscule and defnintly couldnt happen from the other side of the wall, its a bug, good catch!
