Spectating a game during champ select=black screen?

So, I was spectating one of my friends games. It was during champ select in a draft pick game (I could tell by the music). Not sure if ranked or unranked. Probably ranked. Anyways, the screen was blank during the champion select process. Once the game started, the issue fixed itself.
