Dashboard will not open external links [SOLVED]
I clicked an LCS link last weekend, and AVG went bananas. It popped up a warning citing suspicious behaviour from the LOL client, and then gave me an error message when I said to allow it.
Now every time the League client tries to open a link in a browser window, it crashes. And not a blug splat crash--a legit, "LoLClient.exe is not responding", fail-so-hard-it-bypassed-bugsplat crash.
Other programs can open browser links fine--Steam client, Thunderbird, and even the Curse match statistics that open from a link in the loading window, all have no problem with external links.
It's just the client.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Is this even a League issue, or is it AVG blowing up the client every time it checks its exceptions?
Okay, I just fixed it myself while I was digging around to learn more, but I'll post anyways in case someone runs into the same issue.
It's an AVG problem--I temporarily disabled it, and the client immediately opened the windows that were crashing it.
The solution is to add LoLClient.exe to the exception list by going into the settings, clicking the exceptions tab, and adding the launcher located in Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_air_client\releases[version]\deploy\LolClient.exe.
It was a bastard to find 'cause the file is buried so deep, but that solved the issue.
I have solved the problem. I am one with the machine. I have joined the glorious evolution.
