Auto Attack stops randomly?

Okay, so I've been playing as kog'maw and I used his W, and then I decided "Eh, I kill everything in 2 shots anyway," and I press A and target the ground. I killed 2 minions and then...just stopped. Nothing. He stood there with my barrage on for at least 2 seconds then went back to auto attacking out of the blue. It wasn't lag, it was just odd.
