Maybe it does not go to the subject, but, good prediction.

I think it's because of where you grabbed them: you grabbed them while they were in the wall and you were already butting up against that same wall. So it tried to pull you towards the Kal, but it's pure wall between you and her so it couldn't, so you just stayed mostly in place.
