Garen's Q pops Banshee's Veil AND still hits

how garens q works, i think is that his silence gets applied first then his damage. riot just updated the spell shields to block 1 thing instead of everything happening in less then a split second thus his silence gets blocked but his damage does not

it blocked the spell portion with the silence but sadly garen's q is counted as an auto

So why does Banshee's block Nasus' Q, as well as virtually every other activated attack modifier?

nasus q has only 1 effect for it garen has 2 nasus q effect empowers his auto so you block the empowered effect garen has 2 effects on his 1 is silence which the banishes blocks, the second is damage which it will not block as it already has blocked the silence

Riot updated spell shields this patch i think to only block 1 thing and not everything within close time proximity

Just because an ability does two things doesn't mean Banshee's shouldn't block the whole ability - that patch note only says that Banshee's will no longer block different spells that hit at the same time. Garen's Q isn't two different spells - and if it's considered that way, then it's still a bug. Banshee's will block both Annie's Q and her Pyromania. It also blocks "both" portions of Udyr's Bear Stance.
