Known issues with new champ select

Hey all,

EDIT: Holy cow, what a day. We're back online after having to go down earlier. I've updated the list with some issues, some of which were able to be solved server-side (no patch required). Thanks for the patience.

We’re sharing a list of known issues with new champ select to consolidate feedback and bug reports. Like all other features, we’re taking an iterative approach to new champ select, and will be building on the feature in the months to come. If you see anything outside these issues, post here! We’re planning to fix all of these issues over the next few patches.

  • Unable to purchase skins in new champ select.
  • Unable to select chromas in new champ select.
  • Unable to select ward skins in new champ select.
  • Unable to disable animations in new champ select.
  • Champion ability details do not show on mouse hover.
  • The “See more stats” button in the Leagues tab of the Profile page has been disabled for both individuals and teams.
  • TRIAGE: An issue with MMR-clamping at high-tiers of play was causing exceptionally high queue times. This was improved on 1/14 and again on 1/15
  • SOLVED: An error on our end allowed for an exploit of the tier restriction to be bypassed in Ranked Draft. That has been fully resolved.
  • SOLVED: A matchmaking bug caused premade 5's to match against groups of solo players too often. This fix is now implemented
  • SOLVED: A matchmaking bug causing lopsided games was solved, expect slightly longer queue times because of this.

LOCK IT IN Bans and picks must be locked in. Hovering doesn't count! Failing to lock in a ban or pick will result in a dodge with a time penalty.

I hope this isn't permanent. Often I like to select my champion and then get some water / go to toilet while the timer runs out and the loading screen starts.

There's a glitch where I can't select a champion in champion select. I keep getting penalized because I get kicked for not picking a champion.

I was in champ select the UI froze all but chat. and then all of a sudden the match crashes out and I have a leaver penalty. I didn't leave, your new champ select crashed and its stupid that i get stuck with a time penalty. please fix this issue.

HUGE ISSUE As soon as you go to change the summoner spells the Client goes all fuzzy and you are unable to interact with the screen anymore. Can no longer pick champs, masteries, runes, or even talk to your teammates. Annoying as hell because I'm getting leaverbuster for not being able to select a champ

Just got leaver-bustered for not banning a champ. The client itself wouldn't allow me to ban, ticked down to 0, stayed there for like 15 seconds then gave me a penalty and sent me to lobby. Clicking on any champion in the ban screen did absolutely nothing until 0 seconds, then the ban button finally came up, which also did nothing.

Okay, I can't play now because my client is bugged. Got into champ select, everything was ready to go, timer for game start went down to 0, then nothing happened. All 5 of us still in chat. After about 5 mins I restarted my client, everything looks fine, try to start a game and as soon as I click 'launch', main window in client goes black and says 'please wait'. Can't leave this page, nothing ever happens except that every few minutes I get a 'no response from server' message.

ps, my friend is still in game lobby at 0 secs.

edit: tried restarting client again, still can't play, same issue. I can't enter queue, client stuck saying 'Please wait' forever. I can click the league icon in top left and go back to home page of client, but I can't kill the 'arranging team' process and try again, the x doesn't do anything.

Above is an attached photo of my game client that keep freezing in champselect. It doesn't work and constantly freezes. It has kicked me out of que more times than I can count, leaving me with 30+ minute wait times before I can join the que again. It makes it difficult to play with friends and it is starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

**after i trade **when i click a skin i want to play it wont show up in game and sometimes i get a skin i dont even own

Me and my friends are unable to actually use new champ select, we cant join the same lobby and we just get a loading message

Why not add that a lot of people can't access ranked/draft because it just says " please wait" and it never loads. I even deleted client and reinstalled, nothing.

Please please please fix the bug that isnt allowing people to lock in. Having the screen get stuck on 0 for whoever was previosuly picking and not being able to see your lock in button is so annoying. Getting penalized for a leave when you have done nothing wrong is terrible. Your client has a problem and your players are paying for it.

Also, would be really nice if the ready timer to join a match and the "you're banning" timer would have an audible countdown or something to catch your attention. I have been chatting to my team about positions and champions to decide a comp and almost missed my ban several times. It's not like I was afk. I am right there in the team chat and almost getting a dodge because there is no indicator.

Got the timer stuck at 0 bug...

Honest question: Did you guys (Riot) just not test this at all or did you know about these obvious bugs and push it through anyways?

This is pretty unacceptable from a software company. I just don't understand how these bugs can slip through.

I join any queue and as soon as I accept it I get a black screen and cant play anything on any game mode

I seem to be unable to cancel the queue. I don't know if you have been told this a million times or I am the first to say this. But, it also seems to not load every time I click to join a queue. It sort of turns black and I have to restart my client.

I can't accept friend's invite, nothing happens after I press accept. Prior to that while I was able to get into his lobby, but he was put into a game while I was in a ghost lobby with him still present. After I tried to create a lobby to invite him, I got a error message saying "{0} is already in a game lobby." After I was able to create a lobby, I tried inviting my friend. He was unable to accept and had the same problem as me. Lastly, when I tried to cancel the lobby, it put me into another ghost lobby with my friend who really wasn't there. Every time I tried to cancel the lobby, I would end up in the same lobby. That happened for about 3 minutes. What's going on??

btw, I'm not sure why as this wasnt an Issue using it earlier today, but queue are SOOOOO LONG! I'm sitting in a 15:31 queue with both support and fill selected.

Basicly I have 19 rune pages, only 6 or 7 of them show up in the new champ select, which was unfortionate since the page I wanted to use was all the way on page 19 =/

So I understand that this is a new system, but when the launcher keeps crashing during the new champ select and I have to force close my game there is some kinda problem. Plus now I have this massive wait time now because the games thinks I'm trying to dodge que and it has happened some many times.

Its absolutely unacceptable how so many players are being punished because of a ridiculous bug in this failure of a system.

So ive been having a bug where in the new champ select i change my masteries but it always loads me in with the last know masteries i had equipped before i qued. Is anyone else having this problem

When can we expect the bug preventing us from joining games after champion select to be patched. I haven't been able to play in a week. Same goes for half the community

A couple weeks ago, an issue regarding my rune pages had occurred and persists through this day. As I enter champion select for any game mode, I proceed to choose the correct rune page I need based on my champion. However, every single time I enter a game, the runes that I had just applied are not in effect. Instead, my champion will receive stats based on another rune page. This is becoming increasingly annoying, especially during ranked games where I do not have the proper runes even though I clearly picked them in the champ select. To try to figure the exact problem, I deleted all my rune pages. Still, when I go to champ select and click on an empty rune page, my champion will still receive stats for some reason, albeit with the wrong bonuses, let alone on a page with no runes at all. Please fix this. I have uninstalled league and reinstalled it as well just to hope it would be fixed. But still, the problem continues and I am "locked" into one rune page and cannot use any other.

This is the second time I have had the new champ select freeze on me during the banning phase. I have told riot about this problem and I still get penalized for not being able to ban a champ.

I don't know if this was local problems but i doubt it, for 2 times now i got into a dinamic queue game and when i went to ban the button didn't work and it got stuck at 0 seconds (it kept ticking as if there was time left) for about 4-5 minutes until eventually i either left or it took me out and told me i didn't ban so i had to wait to queue again. I bet this wasn't local as the other players complaint about it being stuck too and i was able to write to other players in the game chat and to friends via PM.
