You probably opened it too late. I'm afraid it's already dead.

So this is the other outcome of Schrodinger's box.

I saw another post like this, turned out he did get loot, but the animation didn't play and he didn't see it in his loot because it was a permanent Icon and Essence. Check your Store > Profile > Purchase History and see if you got an icon. If we can establish that at least we can say it's just an animation failure.
