Volibear vs Jayce

I've been playing a lot of Jayce recently, and I have found that no matter how well I time my E (in hammer), he will always throw me. There has been multiple times in the past few days where I have knocked him away, yet I still get throw before he does any sort of animation. Even after I knock him back, he still does not do the animation yet I get thrown in his direction. The entire purpose of my E is to keep people like that away from me, so why doesn't it work properly?

Set your Mercury Cannon E behind you, run through it, fire Q. When you go into hammer stance, use your Q 1st, let him flip you, use your W, walk behind him then use your E to knock him in the direction you want.

i think it's because E has a cast time and during that cast time you can easily move 100+ units in about 0.25 seconds with 450 movespeed, E's range is 240 compared to 125 for a melee attack.
