Patch 6.22 Spectator Chat bug

Prior to Patch 6.22, when I would spectate a friend's game, at anytime I can press 'Enter' and it would open up the chat bar. Now on 6.22, if I toggle anything in the UI (whether I press A to toggle teamfight UI, or H for the Spectator HUD), I am unable to open the chat bar. I can still use the hotkey to show chat history but I want to be able to message my friend without having to stop spectating their game (even if I'm viewing their game with a 3-4 minutes delay) This is on the legacy client.

I would like to be able to toggle/hide the UI so it would be easier to see the chat bar (what I'm typing to my friend) as well as the chat history itself.
