SEVERE BUG: Press The Attack versus Decoys

Eeyore··8 votes·1,898 views

If a decoy times out with stacks of Press The Attack, Press The Attack is permanently disabled.

Dying/respawning to doesn't fix it.

Tested for Wukong's Decoy and Illaoi's Spirit, so far.

Reproduction:

  1. Take Press the Attack.
  2. Attack Decoy once.
  3. Wait. (Don't wait so long that the stacks time-out - although that's impossible with Wukong.)

Result: never trigger Press the Attack again.

UPDATE: Same with Aery if the decoy dies while "holding" her - she's disabled indefinitely. However, unlike Press the Attack, Aery will respawn if you die.

Similar thing just happened to me in an ARAM as Ashe. I had press the attack, and our Illaoi E’d someone, and I auto’d them. Her E faded, and I had 0 press the attack damage (no triggers) for the rest of the game.

something this basic would be caught in pbe if it was used as intended

but atm not many people use it because signups have been down for over a couple of years

and the people that do play on it, usually speak up about it (with the little people that even play) and for some reason it seem like riot doesnt listen(as far as seeing it still be broken on release when it was called on on forums beforehand)

coupled with not taking enough testing time, leads to this

dont hate me, hate the facts =/

Ummm, they disabled the ability to "sign up" for the PBE when they added the ability to "apply for access" on your main account. They did this so that your actions on the PBE would be accountable by your "main".

I edit the Wikia and I did a lot of testing, but there's a limit to what one person can do (namely - a training dummy won't summon a decoy). That said - a lot of my friends applied for access and received it over the last few weeks, and helped me test a lot of things. We determined exactly what Oracle's Elixir could and couldn't see - for example.

There is a possibility that lots of people encountered this bug - but if you don't notice that the tiny diamonds on the ground stop appearing, then you won't notice that the bug has happened. It was only my Illaoi-main friend that noticed it was disabled.

There's a massive difference between what a very small PBE community can find in 2 weeks to what millions of people can find in 2 days - no amount of PBE testing would find every bug. Especially minor/obscure bugs. There's not that many decoys, for example - and most of them don't last long enough to attack or you generally don't attack them at all.

im usually in the forums at least a couple times a week, something like pbe signups going again shoulda probably been a sticky considering some people (like myself) signed up, waited a year, next yr went to sign up and its down, next yr i go to sign up and its still down

congratz they finally opened it back up.....now u say they listen? LOLOLOLOLOL

how many forums u want pre release of something saying something is broken before it got released still broken? i can give u pretty much as many as u want

yes there is a limit one person can do, hence the whole signup thing shoulda been solved and sticky'd awhile ago, and honestly, at very best, it would take 2 people to reproduce about any bug, and 9/10 it takes one person (this is where being vocal helps as other people can test also)

but to sit here and say riot listens to pbe is just downright false, countless times (again ill show u pretty much as many as you want) of riot doing the exact opposite of listening and/or still releasing it broken instead of giving ample time to fix it

be honest, how many gaming companies release stuff this broken into live after testing it? besides bugs like inf summoner spells or invisible spears etc?

theres only so much a person can find in 2weeks? seems like ur agreeing with me that they dont take the ample time to test, dont get what ur trying to say with this

to the illaoi main thing, again this comes into the category of not enough people on it

never once said all bugs would be gone due to testing, but 9/10 of these would be caught and handled pre release if they werent dumb with how they use pbe

i understand pbe is small and due to past history riot doesnt either fix stuff in time or just not at all before its released and thats our fault? seems to me how they use it seems to be messed up

It probably was stickied... when they merged the accounts like 2 years ago. The sometimes disable applications for access for one reason or another - I think they did last time URF was enabled for testing, but otherwise "sign-ups" have been permanently open for years.

And the PBE is mainly for bugs that literally crash or break the game. There's also a time limit on changes they can make for the next patch before the next patch has to get pushed back. Something like this slipping through the cracks isn't unreasonable nor does it make Riot terrible people.
