Critical Error (Selling)

I sold my level 2 Rek'Sai who had a frozen heart equipped and nothing else. The game never gave me back my frozen heart. about 7 more rounds went by before I lost. I just. Lost. An item. Riot?????

My bench was probably full of item components so maybe it just got deleted?? Still doesn't seem like something that should happen.
