Top lane Master Yi
I was just wondering what you guys thought about yi in the top lane. I have always done well with him. I always go positive and I have nearly 20 kills per game.

I use it as a counter pick for quishy tops. All it takes is a bruiser who rushes thornmail and brutalizer to absolutely destroy Yi in lane, so picking after their top laner is almost required.
Yi is very powerful in MOST places pre 30 and at low elo. People just don't know how to deal with him.
I find myself biased against yi, mainly due to the fact that people used to take him ap mid and basically cheat death over and over until they broke him.
However, Yi does one of two things in a game. Get locked down and melt, or 1v4 and quadra kill. That's pretty much his only options. I recommend being sure you can do the second with the other parties team comp. an amumu or any other massive stun will destroy him.
Or, you could cheese the other team and backdoor/splitpush all game.
If you're getting about 20 kills, I think you're just playing against bronzies. I play him top sometimes and I don't even get around 20 kills when extremely fed. I generally get around only 12-14 if I get fed. Every once in a while it would be around 17, but rarely +20.
Yi is 'okay' top lane against other damage based champs. Too much lockdown and Yi's lack of escapes dooms him every time the enemy Jungler ganks. Too much tankiness, or champs well designed to build tanky can just rush something like Thornmail or Frozen Heart and just screw with him.
Try Yi mid lane. Learn how to read cast animations and dodge/initiate onto the opponent with your Alpha Strike. Mid lane is full of almost nothing but champions that Yi is strong against while at the same time being much more physically shorter, meaning Yi's lack of escapes is less of a problem during ganks or situations gone awry.
