How do I climb the ladder?

For the longest time I've had problems climbing the ranked ladder. I'm really not bad enough to be in my current position. I main adc or mid, I have good positioning most of the time, I farm well unless I get shit on in lane, and my lane phase is generally good. I also call mia's and try to be as nice as possible and ignore the trolls. But regardless of all of that, I still have problems climbing. Why? Every time it rolls around to teamfight, my team doesn't know what to do most of the time. Tanks just stand there instead of engaging when we have the advantage by catching somebody out of position, or we don't push to take a turret out, or some other squishy from my team tries to #LCSBIGPLAYS and then they get caught out before any of us realize the bad decision they made, or my team engages 4v5 without me or another person from out team. And every time this happens, we loose the game from sheer ignorance of how to teamfight.

This has happened to me so consistently that I've recently gotten discouraged and stopped playing ranked almost all together. I hardly play one ranked game a day, if even that. With the LP drain and the consistent loss streak, I've gone down from S3 promos to S4 with 8 LP. So, to any seasoned ranked climber out there, how do I fix this? Is this just bad luck and I need to play a lot more, or is there something I'm doing wrong?

  1. Your positioning is not good, and I don't have to watch you to figure this out. Also that Genuwhine guy is actually unranked. I know you're not good at positioning because you're silver 4, you're in silver because you don't understand the fundamentals of your lane and/or champion.

  2. Your CS'ing ability is poor.

  3. Your mechanics are lacking.

  4. You focus on your team too much.

  5. You make poor choices every step of the way.

That's why you're stuck in the ELO you're at, record your games and fix the mistakes you can detect. Ask "WHY" you died, 99% of the deaths in silver are because of YOU.

you are playing champions that are too hard for you so when push comes to shove and you have to carry the teammates you dont know how to pick someone off properly or win a team fight by making the plays. I suggest Utility mids like Kayle and Oriana and just get better at taking advantages and pushing yours.

Hello,

Let me preface this first. I think it is a terrible mentality to say "I don't belong in this Elo I can do x, y, and z" what happens if you can't do a, b, and c? The game is a team environment so working as a team to win is obviously the goal. Sometimes this doesn't happen and it turns to you to lead and carry.

  1. My main tip is to play a champion you're VERY comfortable on don't play the high skill cap carries but at the same time pick a champion you like (it also helps if the champion is strong atm).
  2. Shift the blame from your team to you -- Shifting the blame to you allows you to correct mistakes, (i.e. Your team fights 4v5, why weren't you there to fight?)
  3. Stop typing in chat its a distraction don't get caught with your pants down. On the same token if you're typing you can't CS!
  4. Practice CS try to hit 10 cs a min in a custom (more gold = more items/wards = you carrying)
  5. Probuilds.net to get the pro's build paths.

Let me make 1 thing clear: YOU are to blame for your own inability to climb the ladder. Instead of blaming your losses on your teammates (which is out of your control) , improve your own gameplay so you're able to hard carry games. You're playing the ADC/MID which is responsible for dealing most of the dmg on your team. If you're not dealing alot of dmg and a major threat to the enemy team in teamfights, you're not doing your job as the carry. If you're complaining about your own team not doing the "proper" actions in teamfights or in the game, you need to stop assuming that everything is going to work your way. **The best kind of solo que player is the one who understands how to improve their own gameplay and adapt to each game. **

I read the thread and i looked at some of your game data. You are not as amazing as you think you are.

http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1867851265/205167777?tab=overview

in 18 minutes you have 2 kills 0 deaths and the tower. How in hell is bot tower taking 18 minutes to take down? Looking at your build order you get a bf and a pick axe at the same time. .... Some how you had over 2k worth of gold and never backed. Then you back 3 minutes later and get a crit cloak. THen it takes you another 6 minutes to get to get back and get the actual IE.... You are doing something wrong. At 1600 gold you should be backing to bf sword and pick up 2 pots.

So from this i am going to say that you have poor wave manipulation. You fail to understand when to back making it so that you have 0 lane advantages when you are winning. I wish i could pull more data but the after game data does not tell when you have assists.

You are not bad in this game, though i would not say you amazing. From the game data no one is holding you back. Though your 6th item pick up is a bad choice, for a 6th item. You also use your trinket but do not upgrade it.

You are not as good as you think you are. I have read through the thread and you seem locked on "my team holds me" back. You want to climb the ladder? Dominate your lane consistently and then roll that advantage into team fights. The people that climb just play better than everyone else and dominate the brackets they are in.
