How do you not just die instantly as a carry?

As any carry potential champ I play, I just can't live. Whether it's an ADC or a mage or an Assassin, I just die instantly. I've sat at the back of fights doing nothing for like 5 seconds while my team fights and I watch ults and cooldowns get blown, I go in, and instantly everyone focuses me, kills me, and goes back to what they were doing. With Vi in the meta, this is especially prominent. Too many times do I watch a fight happen, see 2 Zhonyas, 3 ults, someone dies, 4 flashes get burned, and I finally decide to walk up to the fight, INSTANTLY get Vi ulted, 1 shot by an Assassin and left there to cry. I'm trying to play Cass a lot, but every game is the same. I get a good ult, back off, and just get constantly dove. I can only kite so far when I'm running from an Irelia, Yi, Jax, Hecarim, etc.

I watch montages and pro plays, and I see people able to walk around team fights. I watched a Cass montage earlier, where in a fight she was able to land a 2 man ult, constantly land Qs and Es, and never got focused, shreded the team, and walked out almost flawlessly. If I tried the exact same thing, their entire team would just dive me and kill me. I understand people in Diamond+ know how to peel, and most montages come from that, but there's gotta be a way to not just die instantly in Silver->Plat. Please help.

It sounds like you are just awful at positioning. And you put yourself into vulnerable situations. It's hard to give specifics, as I'm not watching you, but if you're being accurate with what you said, you are just choosing to do the wrong things consistently.

You walk behind the team and actually build some defensive options like item 3139 item 3156 or item 3026, and save your escape + flash or ghost? That's for the ad chars'.

I am not all that familiar with the AP side of things but I suppose you have item 3157 item 3023 item 3001 to choose from maybe?

actually have your supports peel you, but there is no such thing as peel in low elo

Swain is a good midlaner to use if you keep getting blown up due to bad positioning. He gets beefy once item 3027 is complete and his ult can help you get out of some pretty hairy situations. Not to mention his kill potential in lane is great once you get the hang of him.

honestly the most important thing is positioning all the peel in the world cant save you if you are by yourself or way in front of your team

Lol get a tanky item, you cant live with 1500 hp, I play full AP Morgana and I end up with 3000 hp as well

I would also recommend working on your positioning, timing, and kiting (not just 1v1 kiting but kiting a teamfight).

From what you've said you can either be outside of the fight, or dieing in the fight. That means you must not be picking the right spot to stand at some crucial point. Are you waiting and you walk into a bad spot? Do you just walk towards the wrong person (enter the fight close enough for Vi to ult you)? Do you have the wrong angle?

You also mention standing outside of the fight waiting. Especially as Cass you have an AoE pool that expands, and a decently long ranged Q. Use these tools to kite/harass in teamfights. You don't have to be all or nothing. Harass the enemy, waiting for a good ult or until somebody steps out of line.

It is really hard to say without watching you play, as someone mentioned. You also mentioned watching a lot of montages and pro play. The thing about pro lcs plays though, is that they are done on pre-made teams. They know somebody has their back. You don't. You must be able to fend for yourself. To do this I would suggest watching replays of your games and skipping to the big teamfights. Hell, if you die in these fights, write down the time when you die. That way you can jump there quickly in a replay.

I like to use the replay function on na.op.gg. You start your game loading, go to your name on that site, go to your current game, then click the replay button. It requests a replay which it will post shortly after your game is finished. This means op.gg uses resources to record the game, not your pc so no performance drop. This also uses leagues spectator mode to make the replay, which allows you to see the progression of the game/teamfights from every perspective, not just yours.

Hope this helps you find a place to start.
