Ezreal and being aggressive..

So, I've been playing Ezreal pretty much every game, I feel I've gotten pretty good with him, however, I'm always told I should have gone very aggressive against the enemy ADC right from the start. (I haven't hit 20 so I'm saving for runes) Is this going to really effect my damage that much? I get bursted down so much faster than the enemy does, so playing aggressive and trading often results in my demise, which pushes me to play more defensively. What am I doing wrong here? I hit my Q's, watch my mana so I have an escape with E, and rarely get ganked as I don't overextend when I shouldn't, but trades almost always end unfavorably. Want to get better, would like some advice! Thanks

If you're below level 20, you're going to have a rough time in a duo lane. The risk of a 2v1 means that defensive runes are a lot more valuable than they are in solo lanes. Especially if you're being matchmade against people who already have some runes, the only times I'd suggest going aggressive are A) if you get the level 2 jump and B) If you get level 6. Other than that, just farming and poking is probably the way to go.

Ezreal is only really a lane dominant champion if you can push the other guy to turret and you land all your Qs. In a straight up 1v1 at full hp sorta situation, it's usually not gonna be a good idea to go aggressive.

advice? go ap ezreal instead of ad. Compared to other adcs, his attack speed and attack damage are so low that you're practically useless as an adc and your abilities do nothing except your ult. You'd have to get all your skillshots off right away and a few more to make a decent adc since each skill adds 10% to your attack speed so for a full 50% extra attack speed you need 5 skills to be got off to get decent attack speed. However, by this time the enemy has already damaged you more than half and you've gotten almost nothing off.

If you go ap ezreal your q and w do a lot of dmg basically halfhealthing the champ in one shot. Then if, over time, you start losing, you can e away making a rather good trade. Also since your ult is reduced by q's, you can ult the champ if they're about to die/kill you. Then just use 10-20 q's on minions and ult in 30s :D. Only problem with ap ezreal which is relevant is the fact that once you use your abilities, you're usually screwed unless you can survive for more than 7s (which, if in a teamfight, usually you can't) if you can then usually you can still kill them. If not, you're either dead or running away.

AP ezreal gives you a lot of dmg with abilities where adc ezreal gives you dmg but no attack speed unless you can get 5 abilities off. Both are equally squishy.

Dont go for an all in trade as ez, Your Q has incredible range and does decent damage. When playing ez you want to try to poke them down with your q then once you get them down you can start to move up and be more aggressive because if they all in or you all in you have the hp advantage. In the bot lane you dont need to be so kill focused but more farm focused. If you can poke them low enough and keep them from farming it can be better than killing them. keep in mind about 14 farm equals 1 kill

Im by no means the greatest Ezreal player, but espcially since you low level have you tried to max W first? it doesn't have the distance of Q but the passing through minions give a pretty save poke against most ADC's, and if VS a low experience player the little damage it does will most likely scare them away from a little farm. Just look for which one of your minions are low enough to be last hit and then you can judge roughly where they are going to be to attack it.

So, hit 20, got my runes. Only got to play match, and we lost do to top/jungle never playing either, tried to help, but did well bot lane. Went up against Ash/Trist combo, successfully pushed them out of lane multiple times with a Janna support. Feels like it was a rune difference, as most of the ADC's I was going up against we're over 20. Went a couple rounds AP also, and the damage is nice, but I'll have to save up more IP or ap tunes now to really test it.
