Any tips on actually enjoying ranked?

tl;dr I'm a huge scrub and I need to git gud

I have played quite a bit of league over the past few years since before it even came out. I remember when the game was just a start up, the installer barely working and me going back and playing HoN, LoL was just "another" free moba. When it came out it was pretty fresh and relaxing, everything slower than HoN and Dota 1, and really fun.

Fast forward, 2015. Every single game I play that I don't win because of other players, I want to uninstall and never play again. I can play a ranked match in any lane, do my part, but have something horrible happen 90% of the time. If you don't believe me, I'll start recording my replays and you can see. 7 out of 10 games so far that I've played have been absolute trash. What's funny is my last game we played 5v4 for half the match, and still lost! The throws are so big, I don't even know what to do. I've gotten coaching from a diamond friend and it's actually helped out my self playing skill a lot with a bunch of tips and tricks he showed me, but it's still not enough. I got placed Bronze this season being graced with over half my games being full of people who quit after they die once, people who intentionally throw....

I know I sound like every other player who is in a league they can't get out of - just blaming other players and not looking at my own mistakes. The problem is that when I'm playing and shit goes down, I don't see the mistakes I make. When someone runs in and dies 1v5, I don't know how I've made a mistake during my play and how I could carry a 4v5 w/o an essential player all by myself.

At the end of the day league doesn't really matter, but I like playing games that i can enjoy, and I want to get back into this MOBA.

ranked is not about fun its about getting better and winning. But some people don't share my views. Btw Bronze is easy just split push top with tryndamere works like a charm.

I've never onced enjoyed ranked unless winning.. i suggest not doing it for fun ;l

I dont see much reason to do it but for arbitrary numbers to buff my nonexistent ego

Don't play ranked, is the best way to enjoy ranked...

but if you are going to try and enjoy it.

  1. Mute your entire team.
  2. Pick what you are good at regardless of what role you are in. (But pick something that at least works in the role.)
  3. Did I say to mute your team?
  4. Don't talk when your team feeds, or trolls, afk's it only makes it worse.
  5. Ping alot, because talking pisses people off. I've seen people afk just because someone said mia mid instead of pinging it.
  6. When I say ping I mean right in front of the person that the ping is meant for so they see it.

  1. Pick champs/skins you genuinely enjoy
  2. Ignore any flaming people
  3. Start off each game with a stupid joke (e.g. play Maokai, hide next to a tree, tell team they can't see you or that you've lost your character)
  4. Don't start your first team fight in champ select
  5. If you're a jungle, camp your botlane for at least the first 2 or 3 kills - your botlane is the most retarded of all your lanes in every game. This is because the ad and the support have just met each other, and neither will think well of the other if they're behind. If they get into a fight (which they will) and stay laning (instead of the supp roaming and the ad freezing) it usually doesn't end well since they spend more time fighting than they do anything else

Wow,

Well to start with I can't entirely understand what you are going through cause I'm only level 14 and can't play ranked quite yet. However, I do see a bit of the same issues you talk about in my normal games.

I mean just yesterday (Sunday, 1/25) I had one game where a player quit midgame without saying a thing leaving my team playing 4v5 the rest of the way (we won barely). Another game where one player was AFK from the start and we slowly got squashed in a 4v5 match. One rather funny game where the bot lane for the other team (a teemo and a viegar) started arguing in all chat about who was playing worse and who was supposed to be the support. It was distracting for the people on my side, and I can't imagine how the other side felt since they were struggling to stay in the game.

In the past I've had a couple times where other players have gone of in chat about how bad other players are (including me when I was having a bad game even when I apologized for it) [both times I was on my second play with said champion and really struggling with a champ I was unfamiliar with]

For me I've done a couple of things. First I have found friends via the game and will usually be on teamspeak while playing. They might not be in the same game, but I can talk to them while playing to help keep me from obsessing over the fact that the game isn't going well or that X has started raging in game. Honestly, when someone rages I usually end up laughing. LoL is a game and except for the people in the master/challenger ranks a win isn't going to have a large effect on their life. I know it will have almost no effect on mine, so I refuse to allow the result of the game ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Second, remember that it is a game, not life, not war where the loser is going to have everything taken away. It helps you be nice to your teammates. I try to start every game with a "good luck, have fun". From me that is sincere. I want my teammates to have fun. I even want my opponents to enjoy the game. Honestly one of the most fun games I had on Sunday was the one where one player (our support) never moved from the fountain. Sure we ended up on the wrong side of a 4v5 and were slowly crushed, but the team stuck together and played our hardest to make it a fight. At one point one of my teammates tried to get us to rush Baron noting that it was the only chance we had to win, but we had 2 inhibitors down and the rest of the team was stuck trying to keep our nexus turrets from falling. The ending was never really in doubt, but I had good teammates who refused to allow the situation to get them to say anything negative, and it turned out to be a good game.

Not that every game can be that way and I'll admit the fact that it was "normal" and counted for nothing made it easier, but that's what you have to hope for. Find people who are enjoyable to be around while playing and be fun to be around yourself. The rest will come in time.

Stop looking at your division. Don't follow your LP gains/losses. Just join a match and stop worrying about what will go wrong. The more you think about losing the easier it is to go on tilt. You start to get upset at every small thing that happens, you make mistakes and dwell on them instead of moving on, you ignore your team and try to do too much on your own. None of that is going to help.

You're not going to enjoy it until you change your outlook...period. It's what's wrong with 90% plus that plays this game. There is no difference what so ever in playing ranked as opposed to playing normals. The only difference...is normals is where you go to learn a new champ and practice. Your attitude in how you approach them however, should be absolutely identical.

If you're not enjoying playing ranked...it's because you're treating it different when you shouldn't. The only thing ranked does...is give you a measurement on where you are based on ranking and more accurately pairs you against competition that, in theory, is on equal footing with you. If you can't separate the two...and for some reason you just get extra hyped and aggressive/toxic when you play a ranked...don't play it...it's not worth it.

Don't play ranked if you aren't bringing your A-game. Be entirely sober when you play.

you don't enjoy ranked, ever.

If you're winning it, you get a slightly good feeling for not fucking up or your teammates not fucking up

If you're losing you just lay down and accept it.
