Diana in the Jungle

Okay so first off, yes I know I'm relatively new but I love Diana. I think she is an amazing champion and not enough people understand her potential. I have some friends I play with who enjoy having me Jungle with her, because I'm relatively good at it. See but with Diana, the Jungle is a lot less threatening for her because her W and Q can hit multiple monsters. I like her design and her jokes are hilarious (if morbid) but I think there's always room for people to improve, even when you have a mastery of the character few others have. My standard build on her is item 3724, item 3020, item 3089 (But usually i grab item 1027 for extra mana, then get item 1026 to start Rabadon), for my first three items, and I should have those between levels 6 and 8. This lets me get Dragon as soon as I hit lvl 6, even if all i have is item 3724 and item 1001. I think getting Dragon so early is difficult but worth it, and other than myself (as Diana) I haven't seen many people go for Dragon so early in the game, which to me makes Diana a very valuable Champion early game. Her Q also functions as a very good poke for ganking early. Her W can protect her from damage so she can get away from tanks after poking them a couple times. Overall I feel she is very useful as a Jungler and in my opinion she should see a lot more competitive (ranked) play but I hardly see any notice of her. I hope when Patch 5.12 comes out and they add in Runeglaive as a better alternative to Magus (in my opinion) that she will become more prominent in Ranked. For now I'm just trying to raise my level so I can play Ranked and use Diana as a Jungler and hopefully start a new trend, or at least get her recognized. I created this thread to hear everyone else's thoughts on Diana in general, not just her as a Jungler. I look forward to hearing what people have to say about her :)

I really like Diana and her clear is absolutely fantastic. The only problem I have with her is her mana and her ganks. I feel she does very poor in extended combat. Her ganks are very effective past 6 but before then they are very iffy. Anyways glad you like her and continue to destroy your enemys with the power of the moon. Diana

She seems like a really attractive option :). Right now I am mastering other junglers, but I will certainly try it out!

I am by no means whatsoever a Diana expert, as I'm pretty new with playing her myself, but I can agree that she is really fun in the jungle. Personally, I prefer a different build, going item 3708 item 3020 item 3157 as the core items. If I cant get zhonya's early, I at least pick up item 3191 , as it's passive stacks nicely in the jungle. I dont like rushing deathcap as a first item on any champion, as it's passive feels better suited as a midgame item, rather than an early rush. The only downside I find with her is how mana-hungry she can be, making it hard to give up your blue buff to mid if they need it too, as well as her being a afk-farmer pre-six. I'm excited to see how Runeglaive works with her, as it does seem to be better than Magus. c:

item 3285 is wasted on almost no one who goes primarily AP, and unless you need to build item 3157 first should likely be your first completed item. Its just absurdly good; 120AP, 7% extra movespeed and that effect for extra damage is just godly good.

I play a lot of jungle Diana and have tried out a lot of different builds on her. Surprisingly, ranger's trailblazer only has a tiny impact on her clear speed so I now go for chilling smite instead because it makes her ganks waaaaayyy more powerful.

I don't like rushing rabadons on jungle Diana. Zhonya's is so much more useful on her, especially in mid game team fights. Abyssal scepter is an absolute must on her if their team is AP heavy.

Once you hit level 6 with Diana you should be ganking non stop. Her power spike at level 6 is huge and her ganking ability is phenomenal at level 6, especially with chilling smite. While she can solo dragon she has a much larger impact ganking lanes. You can always go for an easy dragon while the other team is dead.

i play diana jungle myself on diamond level and its alot of fun since she clears somewhat fast, or at least fast enough to not have to fuck herself for gold, she stays full hp and full mana while jungling after her first back and she has many options for what to build. all in all, its a great champion.

my current build is:

  1. runglaive
  2. almost always nashors tooth. i know in lane it wouldnt be first choice this early but it upgrades your jungle clear speed by alot more than any other item in the game, and what you want to do as diana is farm ALOT because she NEEDS that gold and experience advantage.

its very tempting to go gank alot because of her low cooldowns and high mana sustain, but you should really only go for very strong and clean ganks or go and duel someone on your own when the time is right. when there is nothing else to do, go and farm farm farm. with runeglaive + stinger she allready farms quickly so you want to use that power to get ahead of the enemy champions to be able to duel them once you completed 2 items.

also, get sorcerers shoes with alacrity on her as she enjoys having fast movementspeed.

then as third item, if they are mainly AP go abyssal, if they are mainly AD go zhonyas.

for smite, i personally am no fan of chilling smite on her as i think all champions who farm very fast really want to use that power to get ahead of the enemy and then seek out duel scenarios. for duels, not only is skirmishers sabre alot better because it reduces their damage, but it also deals truedamage over time like ignite, which is alot higher than that of chilling smite. a jungle diana isnt all about going and bursting someone down in one combo like a lane diana would be. she is about sustained fighting, using the runeglaive multiple times along with nashors tooth and her passive to dish out massive sustained damage and possibly use her shield twice. the skirmishers sabre ensures that you will most likely be able to duel any other champion in the game if they are not a 10:0 irelia.

also, her power spike isnt really on level 6. many champions can outduel her by lvl 6 no problem. ALSO this isnt really about when your "powerspike" would be on even gold and even levels, its about having HIGHER levels and MORE gold from FAST AND CONSTANT JUNGLING so that you can fight anyone you want.

remember, if you get your gold from the jungle and you know timings and routes and ways to do that every game, you will be CONSISTENTLY strong enough to duel people and do your job. if you get your gold mainly from ganking alot, you will find yourself behind in many games because diana doesnt jungle very fast INITIALLY and her damage also isnt very high at first. it only ramps up AFTER runeglaive+t2boots and then is only on-par or a bit higher than most other champions on the map. her big powerspike comes with 2 items because by that time, she had enough time to get ahead through farming and some precise ganks so that everyone else has around 1,5 items when she has 2. this is a HUGE difference while having 1 item +1 cheap 400gold piece doesnt make a difference.
