Runes question!

I noticed that most guides keep recommending specific runes over and over again. I'm kind of confused because things like mana regen seals and health regen rune are never recommended even though they provide a lot a "gold". You'd think that some mana dependent champs would want this. Like for example an adc might decide that having more laning power from being able to cast spells more often will benefit them more than having a bit more armor.

So basically what I am asking is are these runes neglected because they aren't as good as I am thinking or just because people aren't bothering to think about them.

they aren't as good. people can manage mana, but your armor and MR is more fixed. also you gain a lot less fighting power since they poke you down a lot easier, even if you can use more spells.

They're not as good of a pick and quite frankly a waste of IP.

Mana regen, as you used for an example, can be picked up in the utility mastery tree if you really want it that badly. Armor, while it can be picked up in the defensive masteries as well, having an early 9 armor boost mitigates more damage from AAs, minions and neutral jungle monsters than you might think.

Try a single run of the jungle with Master Yi starting at Krugs, finishing at gromp with a 30/0/0 masteries and no armor runes, Chances are you won't make it in a single run without dying or needing to back/wait around for your CDs. Now try it with 30/0/0 masteries and armor runes, you already see a big enough difference to make it totally worth it.
