Up-To-Date Akali Guides, Tips?

I've been trying to pick up Akali as of late with pretty disastrous results. For help, I checked out generic assassin tips on YouTube and I've been following this guide from the TSM guide website but some part of my play is holding me back. Finding people playing her live is unexpectedly difficult (suggesting to me that she's fallen out of the meta?) so learning first hand through another player's eyes has been difficult.

If you could, please provide me with some good reference and/or tips to succeeding with Akali. Thanks!

You could look up some games Voyboy has played in the past. With the exception of her R positioning, her kit hasnt changed a lot over the season. I actually learned to play a few champs just by watching him

Akali is boom or bust, and can't boom until level 6... so be patient and farm and borrow a camp from your jg (with permission) to help get to 6 earlier.

With Akali you have to farm and survive until 6. Her Q mark doesn't get proc'd by E anymore and her R puts you behind the target. What I do is rush item 3146 you'll have tons of survive ability if you keep attacking the target.

The combo I use to most on her is Q, R, aa, E, W (to wait for cd's), and repeat.

EDIT: If they start charging while in you bubble chances are they pinked it. Try to place it so it touches a bush, so if they do pink your bubble you can use the brush for your escape.
