My ADC can't last-hit. I'm their Support. Wat do?

Basically the title. I'm a player who is happy to fill whatever role the team needs, which often means I'm a support. When I support, I main Karma and Zyra because I like a mix of utility and damage.

But lately (as in, probably 4 of the last 5 support games of mine) I've been paired with ADCs who can't last-hit, and who will often rush in and die. When this happens, what should I as the support do? I often find myself sitting by my tower, out of mana but at about 2/3 health, the lane warded enough to prevent ganks, but my team's Lucian has 52 last-hits to the enemy Draven's 108.

I will do a few things if i have deemed my ADC "worthless". I will try to keep them alive and do everything in my power to spoon feed them kills even at the cost of my life, why? for assists so i can get gold so i can leave them alone and be effective in another lane, i mean they are incapable of doing it themselves so its on me to do it. If that isnt working, i start going for kills so i can get damage items. If im not really a damage-type, then ill roam Mid a little early on and help them steamroll then go top and help them steamroll, its better then enemy ADC getting 2 kills every time my ADC decides they are now melee and engages randomly.

OP describes the frustrating support moments :)

As soon as you notice that your ADc is a vegetable that can't last hit you'll have to spoon him in a other way.

If your ADc is incapable of keeping at least equal farm (you can establish that around 30-40 cs) turn the lane into a kill lane. Call over your jungle and try to make it impossible for anyone in that lane to farm by playing agro. Quite likely the only way you are going to get something positive from that lane.

If that doesn't work or your jungler refuses to cooperate you might as well roam.

It's very painful and hard to deal with. One of the reason i didn't main support till i hit Diamond mmr.

Zyra and Karma aren't the best roam supports. you might wanna try Blitzcrank, Thresh, Leona or Morgana (all have hard cc) to be a nuisance for the enemy mid and jungle :)

Taking cs will just make the ADCs cs worse, and frustrate him at best. You don't really have a choice but to stick with him till laning phase is over. If you leave him too soon and roam, he will feed the enemy ADC (even good ADCs left alone will be at risk of feeding.) I would tell him he needs to practice last hitting, and bide your time until the laning phase is over.

Give them tips and try to help. As you do this, build some damage and become a half carry. Two half carries with a mix of damage and utility is far better than a full utility and no damage.

Take their CS and carry your team, because Karma and Zyra. Or you can leave him in lane (since he's worthless anyways), roam mid or top. Help your useful top/mid laner than your useless ADC. But that's just me. Like, if someone can't even CS and position properly I doubt that he is going to carry. (◡‿◡✿)

Tell them they need practice.

They have one job that's not completely handed to them, they aren't allowed to fuck that up.

Ask yourself one thing: is it ranked? If yes, last hit for them and get yourself fed as an APC. If no, trolololololol rest of the game.

If your adc can't last hit chances are they don't main adc. If you get to chose between adc and support, pick adc. I main jungle and thus my last hitting skills aren't the best, and hence I avoid adc as much as I can (often i end up filling it anyway), so when this happens I focus on not dying instead of anything else, that way my team can carry me since even if I get fed I probably won't be able to carry since my positioning and mechanics aren't that good (I adc less than 10% of my matches, i would say around 5%) Same as me there are other players that just can't adc efficiently and end up doing it due to pick order or whatever.

Last hit for them. Become the new ADC.

You do nothing.

Playing support for an ADC who understands how to last hit and grasps wave mechanics is a pleasure. Playing support for an ADC who is shoving the wave at all times and misses 70% of their last hits is absolutely infuriating. It's the main reason I hate being support, I never know what kind of ADC I am paired up with until the game starts.

It isn't as bad if your playing a tank support, because you can use item 3097 to help them out and get CS for yourself.

Support position, as far as it has come, is still in a shitty place

the best role, firstly the whole team is obliged to you if you picked it voluntarily and not as the last pick, secondly you do nothing while they try hard to carry you and if they failed it's their fault, not yours, and you can call them on it, if you dislike your adc you can always press tab and then bully him for low cs (nobody can kill creeps perfectly), unless your adc got fed and carries, your team almost always will join you to blame adc, and if he got fed and carries you can say that it was you who made him fed regardless what you actually did in lane. also everybody loves you regardless. the best role

for some reason i think bard will be like lulu, stuck with 47% winrate or so

TsaiChenHan3/10/2015, 4:40:58 AM1 votes

play a support that can zone the hell out of the enemy adc so that the kill threat you exert can give your adc a little more room to breathe. otherwise, beg jungler for a gank xD

http://static.fjcdn.com/gifs/Every+time+i+play+support_02a92b_4930563.gif welcome to playing support

on topic, if you tell them to be more careful unless they're the one nice adc in the world (me :3) they'll probably tell you to go "WARD THE FOKIN RIVVER INSTEED OF TyPING FUCKASS!!!!!!!" I'm not a supp main so my best advice is to pick hard peel supports so you can peel long enough for your adc to realize he's not melee so he should be running away.

Mustachestalker3/10/2015, 11:43:26 AM1 votes

Honestly there isn't too much you can do. It's easier if you going with a tankier support so that you can hopefully get them caught up through kills at the very least. Assuming it doesn't go to plans you just have to stay safe, give tips for farming, ping them back, etc. Try talking to them first and if they still don't change their play style then that's on them.

If your adc isn't going to carry a game, roaming to find someone who will and get objectives with them is your number one priority. If you can get any sort of pressure from jungle/mid to push the enemy bot out of lane, take their tower. Don't do dragon. Take their fucking tower so you're free to go roam. If you can't, imo you may as well just indicate you're going to roam as soon as you get mobos. Gank top/mid, get them fed, take their towers, then use them to go bot and take the tower. Ignore what your adc says or if they "get mad." You've already determined that supporting them in lane is not a winning strategy.

It's frustrating to have to do this in solo queue, so a duo partner is preferred if you're doing ranked.
