Dark Horse: Cassiopeia Support

Cassiopeia Cassiopeia is a champion I've enjoyed playing recently, mostly in the mid lane, but I have had great success with her as a support.

She may not have tons of utility like Sona, Thresh and Nautilus. However she is quite the Dark Horse and has her strengths and her weaknesses.

Pros:

  1. AoE slows/ Poison Dots
  2. E resets on poisoned targets, easy to blow up squishy carries.
  3. Great zoning and poke potential if played correctly.
  4. Has a great Teamfight/2v2 ulti that if done correctly can destroy even the strongest of bot lanes.
  5. Able to chase down stragglers with her Q.
  6. Her passive makes up for her lack of gold and experience.
  7. If played correctly, can destroy unprepared solo queue players.

Cons:

  1. Susceptible to ganks early on
  2. No reliable escapes
  3. If not positioned right, can get completely caught out.
  4. Can be difficult to master her mechanics.
  5. Squishy all game.
  6. Can be punished by coordinated teams. So not going to be good in 5v5 ranked.

Summoner Spells

If you want an early kill: summoner 4 summoner 14

Normal summoners for normal lanes: summoner 4 summoner 3

Start with item 3303 item 2003 item 3340 oritem 3341 and then just go full AP but you can build items such as:

item 3222 item 3050 item 3143 item 3190 item 3065

They work just as well for the support role, but I recommend full AP after item 2049 and item 3092

So a full build should look something like this:

item 3092 item 2045 item 3048 item 3089 item 3157

and

item 3270 or item 3255

Good luck on the Fields of Justice!

The issue you're going to have is that she brings nothing to feed her ADC. You can get far better than one slow every 7 seconds from a lot of mages, like syndra, and Cass has a much larger KS potential.

On the flip side, playing her bot lane as the carry is very fun. she has the poke and throughput to pull it off, if you're smart about your positioning/mana and can land your skillshots. Not suggested against lucian or graves because of their dash-gap closers, but it works effectively if you have an AD mid and jungler.

I feel like people have a misunderstanding.

When you play Cassiopeia Leblanc or LeeSin your goal is not to feed your ADC. Your goal is to delay the enemy ADC by killing them or just leaving them so low they are afraid to come up. You do not help your adc - they need to manage for themselves. You make your adc stronger by making theirs weaker. Cass is especially difficult because she really needs kills early to scale into late game.

Please take it from a Gold 3 support main. Many different champs can be played as a support. Their effectiveness is your ability to understand how they work as support.

As for your build I would recommend this:

item 3092 item 3151 item 3157 item 3257 . Liandry greatly enhances your extremely high base damage.

item 3165 Mana struggle item 3222 When your auto attacker is in danger of heavy disables item 3116 Effective if you feel you lack CC

Just because you are playing support does not mean you need to build tank/utility, especially with kill zone supports like LeBlanc or Cass. It is better to capitalize on early base damage. Tear should be avoided because it is costly and has a poor build path. Deathcap can be bought but because you lack AP anyway its better to get penetration.

I like it with Twitch or Teemo adc vs Vayne or Draven
