Help with Janna

So Janna is an EXTREMELY passive support during laning phase. You basically give your ally a shield whenever you see the enemy team throw something at your ADC. This makes it a very boring lane. The only time you get action is when the jungles comes and late game. What can I do to make her a more fun support to play? Also Plz leave any cool tips or tricks you have learned about Janna, ty!Janna

Use her aggressively, full charged tornado will knock them up for a massive amount of time, do that to their adc and boom ez kills, especiallly late game lel

Bush charged tornadoes can be seen though

I shield myself and auto attack the adc, then w to slow them, and another auto attack. That's what I do to trade tho. I usually save my q bc of mana and when I use it, I make sure it's fully charged to make full use of it.

Janna is actually the exact opposite, and aggressive poke support. Starting shield will give you arguably the strongest level 1 trading ability in the game. You can use her tornado as either disengage or to ensure the trade goes in your favor by knocking them up the second they move to retaliate (this level of disruption on top of a shield is really strong for short trades). Using tornado when you and your ADC aren't in a position to follow up (so the tornado is all that hits) is a waste of mana and cooldowns. It used to be good, but the nerfs to Janna's damage made this subpar. Don't only W. Weave it between autos to trades unless you're using it to peel for a disengage. Max E first, W second. The ideal trade for Janna is Auto-> Shield - Start Q -Auto - Proc Q -Auto - W - Auto, but sometimes you'll have to cut it short which is Shield - Auto - W - Auto and saving tornado for when they try to engage. If your ADC is competent, you can give it to them right before they take damage to negate the damage and give them a good window for retaliation.

The biggest mistakes I see with Janna players is that they're either waaay too passive and don't open any opportunities for their ADC because they think sitting back and tossing out tornadoes from the bush is the best Janna can do, or they're way too ham and don't know when to back off. I started off as the former, transitioned into the latter, then found a happy medium and fell in love with Janna as a utility carry champion.

Yes, you can stop dashes and gap closers like Leona's E with a well timed tornado.

Hope this helps.

Like others said, approaching the adc yourself and bullying them never hurts because you can always shield yourself or ult when things go sour. Janna is a strong support because of her versatile playstyle. You can play her passive or aggressive. Whereas supports like thresh and leona have kits that basically are made to engage. Personally I rarely ever shield myself. Because in my opinion if they focus you that's exactly what you want. You have high movespeed and tornado to escape if need be. She's also great for setting up ganks for your jungler because of this. You can literally walk up to the enemy and pretend you're allowing yourself to get caught out, and then turn the fight around with your disengage while still allowing your team to clean up the kills. Using W for more poke also never hurts, just be sure you don't use it at a time you would want to run away. I usually start kages and have biscuit mastery so I feel more comfortable poking them throughout the game.

As a Janna main, I've found that there is so much you can do with her. I usually save my shield for times when my adc and I engage in fights for the extra attack damage, which is the main reason why so many pro players prioritize her for support. Many people underestimate her so the enemy usually ignores me whenever i toss out an auto or two. Others, however actually choose to back away whenever i move towards them which helps zone your enemy and allows your adc to get some free farm. Remember to frequently harass with autos and w, and take advantage of your movement speed to allow for some quick warding and getaways. Because of her massive speed, she can easily juke enemies who choose to tower dive just by maneuvering around them and tossing out q's, as well as shielding the tower so it does more damage to the enemy. Sometimes you can get away with a flash-ult to push enemies toward you adc and tower if you communicate well with an adc who knows how to follow up. You can also help secure kills in the laning phase by going behind the target and using your tornado to knock them up closer to your adc. A Janna w + exhaust is devastating and allows you to chase them down easily.
