Optimal charm

Ahri So orb and fox fire don't seem to do enough damage on their own and charm actually hits pretty hard. The only problem is that it cost so much mana in lane that you'll never really be able to use anything else once you do.

I'm not asking for a buff but for tips on when I should be using charm, or a tip on how to land it more consistently

I've tried getting closer but that just makes me lose the trade because everyone has stronger combos at that range

I've tried pokeing them down with orb but the return trip is always dodged and if I try to tip it they just predict it with no problem and it doesn't hit at all.

I've tried leveling fox fire first but I lose all gank potential due to not being able to shove my lane, even then I lose trades its just not strong enough.

oh and minions ruin things for me like 60% of the time

It seems the only time I can win lane is if my enemy lets me hit them (actually happens a lot).

tl;dr: I just want to know how to hit people that don't want to get hit. what should I be looking for?

You don't really fire it much in lane. You can use it when the enemy wants an all in or makes a major mistake, but its usually better to stick to Q spam. Harass them out of lane while sustaining more.

If they're sticking around on low hp you can try a flash charm. But in general I recommend waiting for 6 to get kill pressure.

I figured 6 is when you should be trying to gank, or is that wrong?

Hard to describe in-depth but use your abilities when there are minions blocking them from moving. And also where the turret is, that tiny little gap, that's the worst spot for any champion to be in. Take advantage of that gap and use your Charm, there is a good chance it'll land because charm has a wider cast than the small pathway.
