It's basically a role reversal of how it was before. My ping went up by 10? Please... I am averaging 90-120 ping right now and I live pretty close to Portland where it's suppose to be the "best" connection for us West Coast players.
While I understand something needed to be done for the East Coast players, I do NOT think excluding Hawaii and Alaska from having a playable ping while raising the West Coast to what the East Cost ping used to be is the best solution. I would rather have two servers for NA with free account transfers (so people can still play with friends) would be a much better solution than screwing half the country and two states.

It isn't a role reversal at all. The fact you have higher ping, even if it went up to 100 wouldn't make it the same.
Bad packet loss from East to West was the problem, not the only problem, but the main one by far. You guys won't have that same issue because Riot chose to make sure everything was running smoothly on the West Coast and didn't get to the East until they decided to move the server (or at least announce it).
Now that the server is out of Chicago, you won't have the same issues we had, because Chicago is kind of badass when it comes to infrastructure (one of, if not the best in the US, if not all of NA) and all that (Won't go on the long nerdy blah blah about it cause I doubt you'd care).
Basically, moving the servers to Chicago is likely no change in packets for you guys (nothing noticable at least), with minimal ping gain (20-30 is nothing unless it is 0 to 30), and a HUGE boost for us in packet loss (the lack thereof) plus better ping.

But some of these East Coasters have been complaining about bad ping for years and all they've heard is "Lol git gud," "Fix ur internet," and "Quit bitching." You complain about taking a ping hit but that has been my ping for 3 YEARS at this point, and it was still worse than yours. I heard all the time "Just get better internet", or "Don't blame ping for you being so bad". We bitched about it and we got nothing until now when it is basically evened out except cynical retorts, now we get to do it back and we're being smug? I have plenty of friends on the West Coast who basically didn't notice the change until I was saying how nice having under 100 ping is. You're ticked off that we can finally react the same way that people on the west coast have reacted to us for years, how is that not being spoiled? If people on the West Coast want to dish out the bad attitude as a whole they need to be prepared to take the attitude back on the flip side.
Yeah, you got more ping, but it's still playable, and now it is a lot more even that it used to be between the coasts. It used to be 23 vs 135-140ish between the two of us, now it is 70 vs 95ish. That's a difference of 1/10 of a second in a reaction based game, reduced to 1/50 of a second. 1/5 of the delay overall, and you want to complain that now you have to deal with the same stuff we do?
Yeah, games like DotA have different servers for America, but this forum is not for DotA, it is for League, so for lack of better term, get over yourself.

Being used to 100 and having your champ pool over the years based around ping friendly champions to support that is one thing.
But, for people that are used to low ping having it double(/some cases triple) is beyond permanently tilting especially when not being able to play their favorite champions like 
anymore when over 100 ping.
I managed to bring it down to 80 using wtf fast, but I shouldn't be having to pay 10$ a month to get a proper routing for a still sub par connection instead of 2 servers or an actual central location like texas at the very least makes this whole situation pretty unprofessional.
I don't understand the logic of trying to move such a big infrastructure in such a pretty rushed time frame without all the peering issues like with cox communications figured out before hand. It's almost as daunting of a task as fixing their spaghetti code. The only logical cause of action was to keep the west coast server and just work on adding an east coast server.

Zenthon Prime5 votesMy first game with the new servers I picked Trist (who I'm not even good at) because she's mostly point-and-click, but even with 25 more ping (from 54 to 80) my CSing was completely unaffected and it was, IMO, one of the most mechanically impressive performances I've ever put out.
I think a lot of it is that the West Coast also got packet loss, and now it's gone along with everyone else's.

I've raised from s5 to s4 just today, doing nothing different, no dif champs, or anything, and fairly easily. Hitting so quick, my reaction time in game actually matches my real reaction time better, etc.

Yeah, it's crazy. I tested in a bot game and was surprised that when I clicked my champion would actually respond fast. That alone was a huge deal.
Got into an actual game and it felt like I had taken off some leg weights for the first time in 5 years cause it was crazy smooth.

Funny how people on the East Coast have been making comments similar to this for years "How can this game be competitive when only the West Coast has competitive ping?" and all we heard was "git gud" or "upgrade your internet".
Suddenly West Coast players coming out of the woodwork, and I'm over here not able to keep from laughing, as my lowered ping still isn't as low as most West Coast players had all these years, and I'm super happy.
