I always see wukongs dominating games. But when I play him, I can never do that well. How am I supposed to play him? Assume im playing top not jungle.

Zeo,

What Coppinslinger is pretty useful, but here's what I would say. Wukong is an AD caster. Since they nerfed his q, his pre 6 trading is very weak. I would recommend just farming pre 6, and hit them with a q aa when you can (not the other way, as the q breaks armor, making you actually do MORE damage with the aa second). If they do something dumb like dive you with clone up, absolutely make them pay. But don't burn mana just e->q, w away. You'll be oom in 2 combos, and it's not enough to kill anyone anymore.

I'm not an expert but I'll have a go.

Wukong has a lot of damage tied up in his abilities - especially his Q. Try to Auto-Q the enemy for an auto-attack reset whenever you can (should be easy because his Q extends his range) and when you know the enemy can't trade back (just used their abilities to farm, or harass, etc.). If you use your clone properly, you can use it to bait out a lot of damage and some key enemy cooldowns. Try and predict when the enemy is going to blow their load, then W to dodge the damage. You can also run into the bush, then W as they are about to walk in so they attack your clone just out of reaction when they follow you. Your E also gives you attack speed, so you can use that to win extended trades against weak auto-attack champions.

You can all in with your E-Q-Auto-ignite-ult when they are low, a lot of damage and cc. Try to avoid the instinct to just E-Q-W for free harass whenever its up. That combo costs a lot of mana and doesn't do too much damage.

Again, that's just what I think, but that's how I figure you win lane as Wukong.

few other things:

  1. i max e, not q. e does more damage and clears waves
  2. i usually take port over ignite. he's very team fight oriented, so winning lane isn't that essential to being successful
  3. try to avoid e'ing into lane opponents who can chase you down and outduel you after you try to run away with w. jarvan, riven, darius for example. let them initiate action so at least you will be fighting behind your own minions.

A nice thing to practice is when ganking is to W when you are out of vision, walk up to the enemy laner(s), and then E just as you come in vision. Then Ult.

Say it's bot lane. They see:

  1. Nothing, then for a split second they see a Wukong
  2. Who then dashes to them too quick to react
  3. And then they are knocked up

This combo makes Wukong a legendary bot lane ganker (or any lane tbh). One of the largest gap-closers in LoL followed by and AOE knock up. Wow.

And he is fun. And a monkey.
