Question about saying 'gg'

FeedFed·2/7/2015, 12:45:37 PM·3 votes·2,300 views

Like.. cause of afk you had to play 3vs5 or 4vs5 and you've obviously lost, and then the enemy team full of pride and saying 'gg' in your face. Isn't it an insult? I would never say 'gg' for an unfair match, beside you win 4vs5.

I actually think that saying 'gg' as winners is in most of cases bad, as long as the loser are not in a mood to say 'gg'. I think it's reportable, just like saying something like 'easy' 'noobs' etc.

I see gg as the electronic equivalent of shaking hands after a sporting event. When I beat a team that was playing with just 4 people and I say gg I mean it because I empathize with all difficult it must have been for the enemy team.

Saying "gg" is never an insult. However, you are fully free to not say gg if you want to.

Saying gg wp is not a rude thing when you had an AFK. usually they are actually sincere about it and follow up with "sorry about your AFK" or something of the sort. If they say something like "rekt" then you know they are either a scumbag, or a moron who didn't realize it was 4v5 or 3v5.

I've got it now. Thank you guys ^^

I know what gg (should) mean now, and I won't be angry anymore. Cause it's actually meant as a 'nice word' :) I didn't know that it was meant nicely. I thought it was 'showing off' and 'mocking'.

Sorry for my misconception..!

I rarely say gg except when it's a stomp fest or 4v5 where the enemy team ended up looking respectable. Say for instance it's 20-2 not even close, if they manage to not rage at each other I will say gg, or dragging a 4v5 on past 30 mins deserves a gg. Like gg has to do with how the players played and acted, not the fairness of the game or how tight it was... Most people automatically say gg so don't put much thought into it anyways. You are on tilt, watch some funny vids or play a quick easy flash game to lower your sodium levels. (I always play Town of Salem after bad games)

unless your vvvortic, the game looks like it's going to end within 10 seconds, or one team surrendered, saying gg is a bannable offence... Kappa

I find it always insulting, because even in a sporting event they say 'gg' out loud, and then whisper under their breath, "we kicked your ass".

I say "GG EZ" when I win a 5v4 because that's how people treat me when i'm the one with the afk.

Then again my account is currently suspended so maybe you shouldn't take my advice.

to me, gg is used so much that its meaningless i say gg just for the sake of saying gg not that i have anything else to say

however if someone took the extra step to type it out entirely good game thats abit different

BakedLotion3/3/2015, 10:50:13 PM1 votes

gg is so overused for many different occasions it's become meaningless like if you miss ult, you say gg

Its basically just to say something for fun

Paying respect to a match is not meant to be restricted to the loser of that round.

They maybe rekt you, whatever the reason was, they still shake your hands in the end of the match saying, "hey chin up lad it's just a lost match, you did your best and you were quite cool" and there is nothing wrong with that.

What is probably not the best type of gg ever is those who spam gg after like first blood, or attempting to use it as an intimidation tool to bait surrenders or inside wars, those are bad but I blame those players not the term itself.

GG is not fundamentally reportable as this makes completely no sense, why would you report someone for saying thank you? Only the intentions of using such a word might be negative but even then simply a "GG" from the winners is not what we would call "offensive".

gg = Good sportsmanship, regardless of how close the game was. gg wp = in a close game is good sportsmanship gg wp = in a route game is a bm thing to do gg ez, gg easy, gg izi = bm

well i often get an afk and the matches draw out for almost an hour. and i think of it as " you did good for only having a team of 4"

Sirin Gioro2/7/2015, 4:02:53 PM1 votes

I say GG every game unless I'm being salty on the losing team. lol "gg ez" is kinda bm, "gg wp" is good when the game is close.
