I've been playing top a lot more (hence the name), and a champ i've come to like is renekton. When I play him I generally go for a more tanky build, but I notice probuilds show mostly full, or nearly full, ad builds. Is building tank on renekton bad? If so, would love an explanation. Thanks!
Renekton is, by intended playstyle, an early game bully that falls off late game. If you crushed your lane early, you can build aggressively and snowball that lead into dominating mid game as well. By the time it reaches late game and your damage starts to fall off, you should be tanking up because late game you're pretty much just a meat shield that gives armor shred. If you can get ahead and end the game before it reaches late game, then you never really needed to tank up because it never passed the threshold where your damage fell off (35+ minutes usually).
Now if you lose lane, then yeah there's no snowballing happening and you should just go ahead and start building tank. Maybe one damage item. But Renekton is traditionally an AD Bruiser, that can fill the tank role if there's no dedicated tank on the team.
EDIT: Forgot to give actual build stuff A normal Renekton build is 1 hard damage, 1 off damage, and 3 defensive items with merc/tabi for boots.

Renekten is a lane bully and strives on being to repeatedly push his opponents out of lane, snowballing himself and pushing his enemy out of the game. The extra gold from his early game means he can buy ad items so he can kill multiple people in fights. If you go tank you may not win lane, and therefore can become less usefull to hour team much sooner.
