Simple tips to climb the ladder!(how to get gold)
I've been seeing a lot of posts this week about people looking for tips on climbing. I've been gold since season 3, and have been dropped back into other divisions. At the start of this season I got placed into Silver 4, so I had to climb again and for awhile I even forgot my own rules so I was struggling myself. I'm using these tips more for getting to gold because that's the average rank I play at.
These are my tips!
- BE POSITIVE This in all honesty is my biggest rule, toxic players will destroy your games. If you run into a toxic player and can't manage to communicate with them mute them asap. Don't tell them you muted them either that may add fuel to the fire. Just get it out of the way and move on. Remaining positive also helps you back from a match that didn't quite end up the way you wanted it to. Positive players lead to positive teammates!
2.Pick from a small champion pool and stick to it! This i'm convinced is actually the reason why I wasn't climbing, for a pretty large period of time I was jumping roles because I was bored. DO NOT DO THIS! remember you're playing ranked to climb not to have fun! Once I switched back I climbed relatively easy and was having fun while doing it(mainly because I was winning most games). Pick the champions you have the highest win rates with they will get you where you want to go.
3.CS and Warding As much as we all love killing people on the other team this will not always win you the game. These things will inevitably as the game progresses. Keeping vision of the map will allow your team to have awareness of the map, help take objectives, and push towers. Your keep CS is what directly influences your character, even if you are winning in kills and are behind in CS it may backfire in your face. In an ideal situation you'd have kills and more CS than you're opponent, this is where you want to be for the ENTIRE GAME.
4.Play as a team If you're lane is doing well and their lane isn't don't use that fact as an ego booster, once you're able to move from a lane you definitely should. Your influence is important and it needs to be incorporated with your teams. Giving someone a kill or getting global gold from towers can make the biggest difference.
5.Towers and objectives These should be on your mind more than anything else, these are directly linked to winning games. Teams with high amounts of kills and no towers can have the game turn on them really quickly. If you have the lead you need to punish the other team for letting you get there. When you have an opportunity to win take it, don't say to yourself "But I want a BT on Janna because it's hilarious" and prolong the game. Win and move on too the next one!
I know this isn't really anything to in depth, but these things will change your games.
Now go get your rewards!
