Buying a new top laner

Here are all the champions I would look at, arranged (mostly in order) from tanky to damage-y.

• Maokai
• Cho'gath
• Volibear
• Gnar
• Hecarim
• Garen (new version)
• Renekton
• Darius (new version)
• Irelia
• Wukong
• Fiora

Assassins and glass-cannon picks aren't as good top in this meta, since jungle is mostly Devourer bruisers right now and you can't always rely on Leona, Braum, or Nautilus to be your support.

I would go with whatever best fits your playstyle. I realize this list is a lot of options, so to narrow it down a bit I would particularly consider Gnar, Maokai, Renekton, and new Darius.

I have been playing Akali and enjoying it quite a bit.

It's a matter of how you play. If you want a lane bully that goes really tanky with some damage, then renekton, if you want a lot of damage, hecarim, if you want to out play with a clone, then wukong xD

I would recommend wu kong because he has a really good laning phase, but is also one of the best teamfighting top laners.
