Can you help me be better?

Hey guys. I'm fairly new to level thirty, and I have what I imagine may be a not unheard of problem. As soon as I hit level thirty I started to lose all my games. I mean, the drop off was dramatic. At level 29, I averaged about a sixty percent win ratio. The very instant I dinged level thrity, my win ratio plummeted to about 5%. Literallly, I will win perhaps one out of every twenty games.

It's been going on for over a month now. I thought maybe I was just on a losing streak, and I needed a break. I uninstalled, waited for two weeks, and then reinstalled and tried again. No change, I still lose. All. The. Time.

I like this game, I've spent a bit of money on it. I don't want to uninstall forever, but nobody likes losing all the time. I'm not looking for some magical trick that's going fix everything instantly. I read the guides, I watch replays, I try to learn from my mistakes. I often win my lane, but then we get pile drived in the team fight phase.

I know it can't be the teams I'm getting, because I'm the only common denominator in all my many, many losses.

Can you help me be better? Are there some cool people who might be willing to friend me, and play a game or two with me, and give me some real constructive critical instruction to end my post thirty blues?

Hey man the learning curve can be a bit frustrating but you'll get there.

My first advice would be to improve your runepages. You have a lot of niche runes and you're missing out on some very core choices. Here's what I would recommend.

Since you only have 2 rune pages, you should make a standard attack damage page and the other a standard ability power page. Here's how you should build them:

AP Quintessence of Ability Power x3 Mark of Magic Penetration x9 Seal of Scaling Health (Or Armor) x9 Glyph of Scaling Ability Power x9

AD Quintessence of Attack Damage x3 Mark of Attack Damage x9 Seal of Scaling Health (Or Armor) x9 Glyph of Magic Resist (or Scaling)

These are standard runes that will apply well to most champions and will help you a lot more in the laning phase, which tends to decimate newer players more than anything.

One possible cause is the end of the season. There are a lot of people who tend to play ranked and nothing else. Right now, since Season 4 has officially ended, there isn't as much point to playing ranked. Most of the progress that you make between now and the soft reset will get wiped out, unless you climb substantially. Additionally, the brand new map was made available on Team Builder (and just recently for Blind/Draft). The end result is that you are probably seeing a lot of people in Team Builder/Normals who haven't played normals in quite a while. This means that their Normal MMR and their actual skill level may be quite different. This has the effect of putting people into games where they are far superior to the other players.

This is combined with the fact that you don't really play against level 30s very much until you yourself are level 30 or close to it. At that point, you go from playing with and against people with 100-200 games played to people who might have 5000+ games played.

It sounds strange but your best bet right now might be to just start playing ranked. Once you finish off your first 30-40 games and get to where you belong, ranked play tends to offer much more balanced teams because you don't have crazy premades throwing everything off, nor Platinum pros who duck into an occasional Blind Pick with Silver MMR.

If you think it would help, I can spectate you for a couple of games and let you know if there are any obvious changes that you can make. I will be streaming on Twitch in about 2 hours, 7:00 EST. Come by when I am live and I'll see what I can do!
